Default Greddy Turbo Upgrades - Looking For Insight

So I'm just testing the waters here and am looking for some insight from everyone but I was wondering what the possibilities are for upgrading my turbo on the Greddy Turbo kit. Would I be in for a headache if I went bigger and would I have infinity modifcations to make to even get it to fit? If upgrading the turbo is possible and won't be too big of a hassle, what options exist? Would some options be easier and require less modification than others? Just trying to probe the community here since my tiny internally wastegated turbo isn't quite doing it for me anymore. Thanks.

are u sure? that turbo is plenty capable of proving more hp than that motor can handle. What's ur tune now? injectors and such?

you'd need to get rid of the internal wastegate and modify the manifold to accept now and external wastegate if you wana upgrade the turbo.. thats just another peice of your puzzle..

The tune is peaking boost around 10psi and holding closer to 9ish with 550cc injectors.

I figured I would, but again could say a Dezod or ZPI manifold with one of their turbo options be an alternative?

I think that slapping a larger turbo on ur car is not the proper solution in my opinion. I assume ur motor is not built, the current turbo u have is plenty capable of exceding the limits of the stock block as I said. Putting a larger turbo on will only alter the powerband and when the power hits. The max power output is still limited by ur motor strength. There is a tC in my area with serious motor work (sleeved, rods, pistons, custom machining)... he has the Greddy kit with the original turbo, pushing some serious power. I don't know all the details but i know 770cc injectors are in place and it spent a lot of time on the dyno.
I keep hearing people mentioning problems with the internal wastegate on the greddy kits?????? I have only heard that on here, not in real life. I have an internally watgated greddy turbine, race the crap out of it, never had a problem. I know a handful of people who have the Greddy kit on their tC, they have never had that problem.... be careful what u read on here

The turbo itself can make more boost - you need to build the internals and get a good boost controller. Try an electronic one like the Apexi AVC-R

He could get a GT3071, which I believe is the one that will replace the greddy and has internal wastegate. Going with this bigger turbo will give you a little more power at 10psi but will be a little bit more of a lag. I would build the motor first. Buy some K1 rods, pistons, bearings, and put it together. If you're gonna go real big get it sleeved. You can get rods, pistons and bearings for the cost of that turbo. Once you're built and can't make anymore power with the greddy then buy a replacement turbo.
