Default "Gross display of Horsepower"... Dammit...

Well, after getting pulled over today, I was cited for a "Gross display of HP violation". I ended up arguing for a bit and he ended up not giving me the ticked. I'm happy because I have more important things to pay for, but at the same time, I would have loved to have framed that bad boy haha...

Basically... I was going 50 on an on-ramp, and then punched it in 3rd and took it to abotu 70mph. Apparently he didn't like how fast the car got that that speed haha. My argument was that I was within the allowable speed limit, I didn't squeal the tires, no one else was near the car, and I wasn't being reckless by any means. Because I have enough respect for myself and the safety of others, my driving record is clean, and I would never do anything to jeapordize my health or anyone else's.

The officer respected my argument/statement and let me off. I guess next time I'll leave it in 5th.

Man that made my day though haha. Back at home, it was called unneccassry acceleration, but I like the new saying better haha. Makes you almost proud to receive that ticket. Anyone else get one of these before?

that's what it sounds like to me! ^

my dad actually got a ticket for that. he was in front of a cop in the middle lane, and had to get to the left lane quickly to get into a turn lane for a side street. he accelerated quickly off the light and cut over and got in the turn lane fine. used the turn signal, never cut anyone off, never squealed the tires, never went over the limit. the cop ended up turning around and pulled him over and gave him the ticket. he fought it and lost.

2002 chrysler concorde.... a gross display of hrsepower? i think not.

How much would the ticket have cost? Sounds like a good marketing tool to me. "The Dezod Stage 1: A Gross Display of Horsepower"

That is great. I think all who buy a turbo kit from you guys should get a little plaque that says that!

Yeah I'm sure the fact that I switch to our non-resonated exhaust setup a week ago, and kept the open dump tube did not help me much lol.

New things being installed soon. Stay tuned. Then I can really say gross display of horsepower haha

i remember years ago my friend pulled his v8 Pinto out of a bar parking lot, threw her sideways, and on came the red lights. The office walked up, the engine chunking with a nice loping idle, and my friend proceeds to explain he is not used to this new motor, didn't know it would do that, is soooo sorry, etc etc etc.... the cop shines his light at the visible carb shaking thru the hood scoop... and just tells us to go on and take it easy....

sorry for jumping off track a bit, but this thread just brought back that memory... boy those were the good old days...

his pinto ran 12.1 on street tires ( hi 11's in track form ) which i'm guessing some of the stronger turbo tc's might be heading towards. I can say after "piloting" that car to victory several times, i know how that little car pulled. But i couldn't imagine running that quick in a front driver--that's gotta give a rush all it's own...

but yes there is something to be said for a sideways launch that us old timers can fondly remember...
