this dude got jipped, when you get a supercharger installed you got to make sure it's good before you leave. Sounds like the install was messed up. I feel that the tapped oil pan was not installed or sealed correctly. he was leaking oil, and that the supercharger was not aligned properly causing the bearing problems that most have faced with the delicate early model supercharger. Tc engines are torquey and move alot the old s/c brackets were not up to the task when the s/c first came out. If you look at s/c purchcased by toyota and installed around 07 for 05--06 scion tcs the supercharger is different. just sux for him man. Shoul've been more attentive or get second opinions.

I blew my engine about 30 miles after I had my turbo on it. I think it may have either been a bad tune or that the oil was not getting to the engine...

I am not sure but I had to shell out 3k to fix it since even after I brought it back to stock and took it to the dealer they would not help me out =/

I was doing 45mph when it blew...not even in boost.

you expected a dealer to fix your car after you put a turbocharger on it?

hey wendy bascially your tune got rejected. the programming for 07-08 is weird. You can keep dynotuning and it will get rejected. check your piggyback. My boys and I tried it on a few tcs. 05-06 can use emanage blue and ultimate. When trying on 07-08 the stock ecu kept deleting the codes sent by the emanage. it would be a few days afterwards. So the car would think its not boosting and not send enough fuel to compensate for the boost. making you run lean and boom. We called up greddy and they jsut thought it was broken. 2 emanage blues, 1 emanage ultimate, one dezod harness, one spliced harness, and greddy harness. Nothin worked, even the haltech did not work. The only solution is a complete stand alone. Without it, its dangerous to surpass 3k rpm because once it boosts its not being controlled correctly. I suggest check your piggyback and see if its reading and working. unfortunately for 07-08 tc owners we can only use aem ems or hydra ems to tune. there isn't even a unichip yet for our year.

Does this apply with the AEM FIC as well?

According to what they said, if you have an 07-08 you can ONLY use an EMS, now im not sure if thats true, but I am answering based upon what they said.

I dont know much about all these modifications on engines etc, but everything i've read on this site about blown engines the people have f*cK@D with their motors in their cars. I might do aftermarket plugs or something but im staying away from superchargers and cold air intakes and all that garbage. Turns your car into nothing but unreliable junk!

First, aftermarket plugs are a downgrade in this car... it comes with Denso Iridiums.

Second, saying FI makes it unreliable junk due to a very tiny percentage of failures is just non-sense. If done right it is fine.. if done wrong it is not.. same on any car.

Default blown engines

I think maybe when I get a TC it will stay stock.Although I am seriously considering an alternative seeing as bone stock TC's around here seem to have engine troubles just as much as modded TC's.I didn't know toyota was having so much trouble with these.I was the 6th owner of my 88 4runner and all it ever needed in 350,000 miles was 2 timing chains and fluids.Same for all the hondas I owned, and all those were over the 200,000 mark.

I would guess that 50%of the blown motors are not tuned properly...............or a mechanical problem due to the parts not properly installed..........my next guess is 50%of them are toasted from gettign on the motor too hard............speed kills motors......sort of......LOL

On a turbo motor where the oil line is placed in the pan can make a differance between getting oil out of the turbo and filling it up and blowing seals...........the majority of them have no problems when properly maintained and tuned.

If you go turbo or SC expect to break stuff and expect to be in the shop with them.......it happens........

If you kill a stock motor...........that is another problem and usually has to do with driver and maintance..........

Default tc

I have a friend who lives here in town with a tC with about 30,000 on it and he is as **** as an asian can get with his car.He has always babied it and has not raced it at all.He is a real prude on the gas pedal and very prompt on fluid changes as well as not going cheap on maintenance so it may have just been a freak occurance that his car gave out.
