you will need a new ecu or go standalone, once the ecu is flashed with the TRD flash it messes up tuning with a piggyback for a turbo. i dont know from experience but ive heard it from a few tuners

pulley and tuning the sc should get you to close 250hp.

yeah, seriously, 9.5 psi pulley, header back exhaust, light weight OEM size crank pulley, upgraded intake, and some dynotuning, you'll make 250 whp. you can do that for way less than 4500 dollars.

idk i just dont like the s/c... its just me i guess... and if i would want more hp than 250 later on it would be easier to get with a turbo than a s/c.. im not looking to spen 4500 but that is as much as i can spend

If I were you, id keep the s/c, do what drax said + add the aem fic (and the tunning, as he suggested). Aside from that if your not happy with it, the turbo wont make your car all that different, so the next logical move would be a fast(er) car.

If you want a turbo because of the PSSH factor, then get a whistle tip
woo woo!

I was considering the move from S/C to turbo as well, for different reasons (long story), and in researching this, I was told that the re-flashed ECU will be fine with a piggyback system...that was one of my concerns. Check someone from Dezod or TurboToyotas, as both are quite knowledgeable.

For anyone who has actually swapped their s/c out for a turbo, what parts did you keep and did you have to buy any OEM parts to get it ready for the turbo?

turbo will make the car much different then the s/c since the power isn't delivered linearly. once the turbo is spooled up, he'll reach max power and maintain that throughout the rest of the rpm band whereas with the s/c, you'll only reach max power at redline and maintain it for, well, mayb half a second.
