where do i buy heat wrap?

im also making a heat shield for my turbo, the turbine side. im going to use a stainless steel pot from a store and cut it to fit my turbo, then drill holes in it.

thanks, im pretty sure i can find cheaper stuff at a hose shop or soemthing but i needed to know the properties and whatnot. =D

Advance Auto Parts, i run it on my downpipe to keep the heat off my radiator fan since it is real close to it. whatever you do, DO NOT get oil on it, it will stink for day or weeks and youll think youre leaking oil.

 

pep boys carries eat wrap. works great

 

you aren't suppose to use heat wrap on F/I set ups per todd. You end up cracking your manifold or DP

turbo blankets are fine and heat shields, those heat wraps are no no.. like the ones they use in the manifold and downpipes

If I recall, a wrap increase the risks of your manifold cracking... Im not sure why though...

 

Heatwrap doesn't let your mani or DP expand thus adding pressure to the mani. So weakspots are going to give.

If your just trying to make something for your turbine housing.....heatwrap is no big deal...just have to research flash points.

As for wrapping any sort of stainless manifold or downpipe...big no no

If its mild who cares,its going to crack regarless. Wrapping it might help it hold together longer.

Yes mild steel is more prone to cracking. He was making a joke. You're supposed to laugh. Everyone else did.

You could but there wont be much of a benefit to it. Those castings are not the greatest and because you do not no the composition of the material used, I would not wrap it. It might just speed up its demise.
