im also making a heat shield for my turbo, the turbine side. im going to use a stainless steel pot from a store and cut it to fit my turbo, then drill holes in it.

Advance Auto Parts, i run it on my downpipe to keep the heat off my radiator fan since it is real close to it. whatever you do, DO NOT get oil on it, it will stink for day or weeks and youll think youre leaking oil.

If your just trying to make something for your turbine housing.....heatwrap is no big deal...just have to research flash points.
As for wrapping any sort of stainless manifold or downpipe...big no no
If its mild who cares,its going to crack regarless. Wrapping it might help it hold together longer.
