its never poped out of gear. but it sounds like the whine of a roots type s/c.but i only hear it when i let off the gas in 5th gear. at higher speeds and rpms its louder and higher pich. at lower speeds and rpms its quiter and lower pich. it sounds like im driving a dogboxed wrx or something. i think i have a bad bearing in the tranny. that would suck!

Considering that you JUST posted that in D&P today and have zero replies... I think that's a pretty crappy judgement.

Not to mention there's no need to double post. I've locked the other one.

Because you use words like "dis" and "dat" instead of typing one additional letter to make the actual word?

It's OK, just a personal pet peeve of mine when people type some sort of shorthand which saves them next to zero typing and (IMO) makes them look less intelligent.

Good luck w/ your problem though.

if it pops out of gear id suggest getting a tranny fluid flush and get some Redline MT-90 fluid to put in.. if it continues you synchro might be bad

Oh I know...

But an acronym like IMO is quite widely accepted and saves quite a few letters when typing. Compare to "dis" or "dat" which saves 1 letter and makes the person sound uneducated or from a ghetto.

The "w/" is a habit of mine but also a bit more widely used. Sure, it only saves 2 letters... but at least I'm not changing letters to make a whole other word.

the reason for that was so i dont get flammed on for a tranny problem in the fi section. and 90% of the time im on scionlife. im here in the fi section reading about everybodys builds. and for the most part everyone that post here are verry knowledgeable about what the say. so can we stay on topic and not worry about double posting and or shorthand typing. i use nentendo wii for internet. i short a lot.

'Dis' and 'Dat' aren't abbreviated words.

You aren't the only one. Given I do it sometimes too, but for the most part I would rather type correctly. Plus if i have something mixed up car related or a have a mechanical misconception of sorts, my good grammar may save me from looking like a TOTAL retard .

whine with teh clutch in at idle? - throw out bearing

whine with clutch in and brake in only while in gear? - check teh clutch adjustment

if it pops out of gear it's hte synchros

my professional diagnostic is that it's a throwout bearing because it only whines and is louder in higher gears test a couple things, push clutch in at idle, if it whines let us know. if it doesnt let us know....could be a load of different htngs

as for your problem, it could range from the pressure plate being broken, the synchros blown or the clutch springs are snapped.
