HELP... Returning S/C tC to N/A
Hey guys,
Since my ECU is TRD reflashed, i bought another ECU because i heard once u reflash u cant reflash back to NA. Well this new ECU has the same manufacturing date as my old one and looks identicle however the numbers on the lable are different. I called a toyota parts department and he said the numbers have to match and that all ecus are vin specific and that the new ECU will not work. I think hes full of isht. What do u think?
I kno this might sound crazy but will my original trd reflashed ECU work for NA?
Wjat are my options here?
Thanks

You have to have same year ecu of your car and the new ecu has to be the same Tranny as yours and all you had to do is program the key to the new ecu. I did it trust me it can be done. Search on here of the thread on how to program your cat key to the new ecu all you need is a baby clip. Don't listen to the guy at Toyota he doesn't know what he's talking about.

there is a DIY i think garage1217 had did the DIY. its easy paper clip and put it in one opf the pins on the obdII port and thats it wait for like 30 minutes or something and make sure lights on your cluster are flashing that means its being programmed and thats about it. i dont remember which pins it is thats why i said for him to sewawrch and find that thread.
^^^ Wow good stuff. Its alittle more involved than i had hope but thats no surprise.
Well b4 i read ur posts i returned the entire car back to NA hooked up the junkyard ecu, turned the key and it was a complete FAIL. Car would kick over and die. So we hooked up the TRD reflashed ecu and it started right up. Either A) the ecu is the wrong year, B) the ecu is fried or C) the whole key ordeal as u mentioned. What do u think?
I wish i could just use the TRD reflashed ecu but im sure the fuel its dumping in the cylinders will quickly murder my cat.
