I'm starting to read that the problem arises when we swap out the pulley.
While I admit that the supercharger definately doesn't use its full potential in stock form, has anyone had problems with it w/o modding the supercharger?

Plenty of people have gone through 2 and 3 superchargers while being bone stock. There is a butt load of posts on this.

I have an 05 tC, my first S/C went out at about 18K miles, lucky it got replaced under warranty, the second one has about 3K miles on it and its already making noises I don't like , I used to defend this unit, but honestly its a piece of crap and I'm glad they are going to discontinue it.

technically you did have problems, albeit because of dealer install neglect.

Yeah but it wasn't due to anything mechanical, which are most peoples issues.

I bet a lot of people have driving habits that differ widely. I drive a supercharged car the way it was meant to be driven Not anything like an auto-x driver, but a very spirited driver. I also do maintenance regularly and make sure everything is in tip top shape. So i only got 12,000 miles and 7 months out of mine.

Fact of the matter is it seems like trd/vortech rated all the s/c components for some very easy driving without much time spent in the upper rpm range. The bearings are all rated for speeds that are too low.

I can only speak for myself, but I drive my car every day, so it doesn't take that long for problems to happen, not sure how often you drive yours, but if you only drive a few times a month, that could be one reason why yours is still fine, then again it could be an actual good S/C, who knows thou.

Amen to that, i didn't get the S/C to baby it, I got as a performance part, cause that's what its suppose to be, its not just for looks.

I have an 05 tc. The first supercharger was installed at 20,000 miles. At 38,000 miles the supercharger crapped out completely and a wrecker took my car to the dealership. It had been sounding bad for a few thousand miles prior to that. It was replaced under warranty and I'm at 40,000 miles on the car now. I plan to ditch it when the warranty expires and get something more reliable.
