Default How many have a Knock Light?

Hey ive searched through a couple of threads and although i took my car to get tuned, ive been learning more and more about street tuning my car....

Ive personally done all the work to my car and i feel as if i should be able to tune my own car too....I know the basics but still have a toooonn to learn...

Ive got all the proper gauges i feel in order to tune my car safely, however i dont have anything to see knock, and was wondering how important a knock light is? I mean im pretty sure im set on ordering one anyway for my personal opinions, but want to hear whats your setup....

Ive got:

Vac/Boost
AEM Wideband
Oil Press
Water Temp
EGT (not installed, not sure if i should add this?)

Probably going to order a Knock light

i would definitely install that egt gauge.. i just thought about a knock light too or a knock gauge or something.. I can monitor knocks if my laptop is hooked but its not all the time you hook the laptop or datalog.. I see it as a nice tool for DIY tuners since knock activities doesnt always happen while you tune, it could happen in different situations and driving conditions that you couldnt see while tuning.. it will constantly monitor for any knocks and with that you can see how safetly your tune really is.

Ya i mean i can see knock if the laptop is hooked up to, but i mean i personally feel like when im on it i want to see if im possible knocking, yes not only for tuning....

Just trying to figure out if anyone is running them, and possibly why not? I mean I feel like im kinda going over kill on gauges, but the more i have the more comfort i feel in being able to monitor diff. things

Like oil pressure ive heard of the dummy light not coming on
Wideband is obvious along with boost and thats my tripple pod i have water down by my shifter but getting the ATI gauge pod and want to put it in there alone with EGT and possible some kinda knock light or maybe a scangauge

Like the Interceptor

anyone look at that its pretty sweet

^^ you have alot of gauges right there, cant hurt to have those though. I suggest a scangauge so you can have multiple gauges at the same time like coolant temp, intake temp, ignition timing, rpms, tps, voltage, and etc

Im looking for something that I can just tap the stock knock sensor wires so i dont have to tap a new location for a new knock sensor..

Greddy came out with an engine monitoring system for less then 400 i believe and is wired to the the diagnostic port wires and displays and a 3.5" touch screen panel... MSD also has a standalone knock sensor kit which will have to be attached to the intake manifold bolts or if the engine is removed, can be fabbed to bolt right on the block.

It works best if it's plumbed into the block.

Gizzmo has one too.. but it's pretty expensive.

Never used the greddy to monitor knock but you can try this link and scroll down to page 15 http://www.greddy.com/img/PHP/products/pdf/805.pdf

You have to first know the dynamics of the stock sensor for this to work... Soooo only way to get info like this is to either call greddy tech support and hope they have some proper info on this or do your own research... either way hope this helps

Not really - but the controls do take a little getting used to.
