Default How much motor oil to use with your turbo setup

As most of you know, I should be getting my simple kit within the next week, so I just started shopping for new syn oil.

I was just wondering how many quarts do I have to put in with the addition of the turbo? I know that it needs a bit more.

Also you are all using 5w30?

Any good brands u recc?

and sites to order from?

thanks

50 is on the heavy side. I ran that in my supra to up the oil psi. (they run on a low pressure, high volume system)

also remember the first part of the oil weight really means nothing right now. that "W" stands for winter not weight. and it's summer right now.

I would run the recommended viscosity. too much pressure and you can erode your bearings and toast the oil seals in the turbo.

I was planning on staying on 30 myself...It was simply a discussion... oh and I am a mechanical engineer who worksin R&D on german cars everyday so I know what the "W" stands for!!!

I had no idea more oil was suggested. I just changed to Royal Purple 5w-30 yesterday and put in the standard 4 quarts. (And YES, I re-primed the turbo! ) The dipstick reads full, but perhaps it's not about volume capacity.....but more about heat absorbtion capacity?
