Default How To Open A Turbonetics Evolution Wastegate??

As dumb as it sounds, yea I unscrewed the 6 allen key screws and I cant get the damn thing apart. I dont wanna break it in anyway or have the thing shoot off cause of the spring. I want to put the 7psi spring in there but I just cant get the thing apart. Anyone tell me if I can just pry it open and it would be alright just by tightening it up again or what? And about the shimmers or whatever they are called, it says to put 2-4 in but does that mean 2-4 on the top and bottom or just the top??? Thanks for the help

Give it alittle bang with the hard on of a screwdriver. The rubber oring sticks really good on those wastegates. Same thing happened to me. But hold the top down while you give it a tap or else the top will fly away....I learned that the hard way. If your talking about the shims for the wastegate that will give you more PSI then they go on top for sure. I had mine shimmed as well. I was running the stock spring with 2 shims. About 8.5-9 psi

I'd start with just the spring....then add one shim at a time. Dont wanna overboost it. But yeah that spring will go flying away. Took me forever to find it in my garage.

Im having this same problem with my Turbosmart pro-gate.

I tried tapping the top with the back of a screw driver, but no luck.

Any other ideas on how to get the top off?
