Actually I say the only reason to remove the speed limiter would be if you were boosted. You don't need a built head and valvetrain reving to 8k. And if you did, you would be in the 170mph range with an 8krpm redline, not 150. We can do just short of 150mh now with just the limiter removed.

Im kind of new to modding engines especially head and valve train work. So basically for the engine to be able to take a beating it would be good to have the head done such as valve train work and port and polish. Would it also be good to get the block done too such as the pistons and the crank shaft.

ive seen stock head rev to 7k and still made power with a nice size turbo. im built with valves, springs and retainers and were only gonna put it to about 7-7.2k .. thats where teh 60-1 stops makin power im told so, and at 8k you would be over 150 easily.

If you have a built head with valves, springs, and retainers would you actually be loosing power if you rev higher or would the hp that we are rated at stay if we past our 6000 redline?

There is no point having a built head and everything else be stock. Built head + Boost sure. Built head + built motor sure. But built head and no boost or anything would be a waste of time.

And you don't have to have a built motor to make 300whp-350whp. Build the bottom end (pistons/rods/sleeving....etc) when your ready to push over 400whp. Build the head when you have a turbo that needs to get to high rpms, or when you want to rev past 7k rpms.

In terms of N/A, yes. Power usually peaks around 5700-5900 for N/A.

+1....not getting to 140 without the speed limiter removed, no matter if your N/A'ed, S/C'ed, or turboed.

doesn't take long to hit speed cut and just bounce in and out of it, i'm not going by the tc gauge cluster i'm going by my garmin nuvi 660. Maybe there was a slight decline in the road dunno. It said 140 and its pretty accurate.

It was a fluke. Make sure the road is straight, you won't see 140.

probably right, thats a little too fast for comfort anyway. Ever feel your tires right after going that fast? They got hot.

track isn't super safe either, at that speed hitting anything would suck. I did mine on a very long straight ___ road in the boonies, wouldn't dare to do that with other people around, never know what people will do, swerve into your lane for no reason etc.

Yes he was. It's about increasing the RPM's for us, since there are no tranny components yet to beef anything up. The more RPMS available + limiter removed the faster we can go even with the stock gearing. Then again, our tranny has seen 740+whp, so... But the synchros can give out on you if your abusing it good enough. I would know, I shifted into 5th gear one time, and Bam....no more 5th gear. Had 1-4th and that was the end of it...lol.

I didn't say it was safe, just saying I have a reason to actually go that fast.
