how to tell when your trd supercharger has problems
I'm new to the whole boost thing and I've tried searching but couldn't really find answers. I guess because I'm new to the whole boost thing, I'm a little paranoid. My car seems to run fine, but once in awhile I hear vibration to the left my of steering wheel at 4000 rpm and up. Also I popped the hood and on idle I hear a weird noise like something spinning with a boggle sound. When I give it gas it's fine. I went on youtube to hear other superchargers and they seem to have the same sound on idle, but still paranoid.
I guess my question is what do I look for as far as what I can see, hear or even feel. And is this vibration normal because it's not all the time it's ONCE IN AWHILE.
I know they're are alot of experts in here and any info is greatly appreciated. Thank you.
BTW I have a 06 and the s/c was installed like 1 1/2 yrs ago

uhm...4000 rpm and up...that would be when your supercharger starts making considerable boost wouldn't it? so that sound is the sound of the serpentine belt spinning the s/c pulley.
you can check and see if the transmission support bracket broke or something. that was a common problem with lots of superchargers.

The vibration in the dash, if it's the same as mine was, comes from a loose cover over the heater core. I took mine in to the dealership because I couldn't take the buzzing anymore. They had to take most of my dash out before they found that the heater core cover was sitting there rattling with a broken clip. They replaced the cover and there's no more buzzing. It's a beautiful thing. The frequency of the supercharger at that RPM range sets it off and the sound of the rattling cover comes up through the duct for the vent.
That's what it was on mine, anyway. Worth checking it out.

I get the same vibration...only happens sometimes around 3400-3800 RPMs, and it seems to happen shortly after the car gets to temp...but again, only every couple of days, for a few minutes. I thought it was harmonic vibrations given off by the compressor, and since there are no problems, I just deal.
You will know when something does not sound right. It clearly stands out. But for some sleep insurance, take it to a dealership and ask them to check it out. That does two things: 1) gives you comfort that you had "trained" people look at it; and 2) if something does go wrong, you have them more aligned in your corner.
Good luck!
