If you could build your transmission....
If you could have your choice of gearing ratios in the tC, assuming your turbo, what would you have?
Or another way of looking at it, what gears would you change in the tC tranny and what would you change them to?
Manual Transmission:
- The E350 transmission is a compact, lightweight 5-speed manual. There is a double-cone synchro on the REVERSE gear. Triple-cone synchros can be found on FIRST and SECOND gear. This provides faster gear engagement, smoother shifting, and reduces noise.
- The five speed manual has a specific higher final drive ratio. The very short gearing amplifies the low-end torque, providing quicker acceleration from stopped and passing. This ratio is 7 percent lower than the Camry's E351 Manual Transmission, which is 3.944.
Now, on to the gear ratios.
5MT:
1st 3.538
2nd 2.045
3rd 1.333
4th 0.972
5th 0.775
Reverse 3.583
Final Drive 4.235

Well after reading your post I searched a thread on it and it looks promising. has anyone as of yet done the camry swap?
Here is the thread that I looked at : https://www.scionlife.com/forums/sho...gear+ratios+tc

personally i wouldn't ask most peeps on here about doing something like that, i would talk to some race teams or those who have more accurate experience in this. your gonna have some naysayers who have no experience with this telling you not to do it or to do it.
first step is to research all year camry's and find the gear ratios, find the cost, scout out the tranny and see about getting some pics, diagram, bolt pattern, ect to make sure it will bolt up. Find out the axle leangth and make sure it matches. also mounts may differ so you got to come up with a game plan for that.
I dont have any exp swapping out tranny on the tc but this is just a couple of things i would start with if i wanted to move in that direction.
If i had the money i would look into it (thats just me) just so i can see for myself what benefits can be had or lack therof
wish you the best of luck either way.
