Hey guys and Mr. Dezod.

So whats the limit of my intercooler that came with S1 kit ?

and what is the size of the bolts that attach manifold to our head ?
I'd like to get longer bolts so it will be more comfortable to work on.

IC should peak out of efficiency at about 400HP.

Do you mean the studs in the cylinder head or the bolts that hold the turbo to the manifold Yev?

^^ Studs in the cylinder head.

sucks so above 400hp its not going to be as efficient anymore.
Is there an intercooler that will provide GOOD cooling for up to 500-550WHP and does NOT require cutting off crash bar or any parts of my bumper/body kit ?

Just cut the crash bar. You can't get a big intercooler without cutting it unless you wanna scrap your intercooler on the ground.

Is your carsh bar cut ?
Does it affect anything as far as insurance coverage and vehicle stifness/safety ?

or maybe running meth injection will aid in using the same intercooler without cutting the crash bar...

Doesn't really affect anything and your insurance will never know. And yes mines is cut before I had heated up the crash bar and pulled it front a lil and my intercooler was behind it but that just defeated the purpose cause the crash bar was block air so in just cut it.

but wouldn't the upper part of the intercooler be blocked anyway because of the bumper ? Isn't that's why road race cars in TA for example ptuning cut 3-4 holes in the bumpers to allow airflow for the intercooler ?

You didn't say anything about a better intercooler...is it possible to have one that would require not crash bar cutting ?

check this out guys.....

garrett intercoolers Part number: 703520-6009

http://www.turbobygarrett.com/turbob...tercoolers.htm

I'm going to be at 20 psi...by the measurments looks like this intercooler might just be a right fit and no cutting required.

Supports 500HP.

703520-6009 Lenght: 24.0- Height: 6.3 Thicknes: 3.5 Weight: 11.6 Supports: 500 HP

Would you let me respond please Yev! Geesh partner. Cool your heels.

We can do a custom IC core for you to whatever size you want, but understand that is not a cheap route.

With respect to production cores, you have choices from various manufacturers including Garrett, PTE, Vibrant etc....Sizes over 7-8" tall will require modification or loss of the crash bar. Anytime you alter it or remove it, obviously you are comprising safety on a street car that is not braced with other safety equipment like a roll cage etc. How much are you compromising, that is debatable.

With all of this being said, you need to pick your poison and stick to your plan. The ball is in your court. Make a decision as to where you want to land on the spectrum, and I will gladly offer numerous solutions if possible to accommodate your needs.

That is just a core that needs endtanks built for it as well.

That is quite similar to your existing core now that you have, but the Garrett cores are much more efficient and cost much more.

LOL.... i need to cool my engine !

How would those brands (that you mentioned) of cores compare to each other which is one is #1 and which is one is not reccomended ?
when you say it is NOT a cheap route, how much are we talking about ?
If i can afford getting IC without cutting the crashbar i'll do that if i can not afford it then i will have to cut a part out of it...

Garrett is numero uno
PTE uses Garrett cores so that's a tie there
Close 2nd would be Griffin, which I did not mention
Vibrant IMO would be third

Figure out if you want to cut, remove or notch the crash bar. This will dictate what options we have available.

Next, decide what you want the car to be power-wise when it's all said and done.

Lastly, decide a max price you are willing to pay for an IC and that will have narrowed down the playing field by this point to only 2 or 3 I can offer.

Ok sounds good Paul. I will conduct my research and talk to few people about that subject. Then i will make my desicion.

One thing i can answer that IDEALLY i would love to not cut or remove the crash bar. I have no problems with notching it if by that you mean drilling few holes to secure the intercooler.

My end psi that i'm looking for now is 20psi pretty much whatever power i will put down, i estimate that @20psi i will very close or a little bit above 500 flywheel HP. Once everything is good at 20psi i will be set for few years with that as it is well enough power for my needs and track/street driving.
