Default looking to buy used SuperCharger for 07 TC..What should I watch out for?

I'm in the market for used S/C for my 07 TC... I heard some of the older models had defects? Also, mine is an automatic so will any TRD S/C work? I'm very green on this, so I really need help ASAP.....

hmm what should you look out for? well..not buying one is what you should look out for, especially if its for an auto such minimal gains even more so in an auto. youll be spending tons of money for roughly 20-30 whp on a POS SC. so youll be at 160whp when most NA guys in manuals are roughly around the same power

The TRD Superchargers specifically made for 07-09 rarely had problems. It was the early model 05-06 ones that were a mess. TRD did make a redesigned version for the 05-06 models which featured a stronger shaft and housing (with tapered ends) plus triangular bolt pressure plates on the pulley and blower side housings. I was one of the lucky ones that recieved this unit and its been performing perfectly. Many have made the 05-06 fit on the 07-09 and vice versa so if u cant find a used 07-09 and go with the 05-06 just make sure it fits the description of the new redesigned unit.

As for making it work on an automatic, i believe u need a "automatic fit kit" which went for $50 brand new back in the day. Not sure where u can find one now sice all has been discontinued. Hope that helps and good luck.

Don't do it. Auto to 5sped swap, and turbo.

Yea man, if ya want my opinion... i gotta agree with them. Weve seen auto SC tCs dyno in the mid 150s to the wheels for some reason. That is just pathetic. Auto and FI just dont mix.

Default ohhhh man....

you guys are killing me with honesty.... i'm starting to think twice about this. I would love to go Turbo instead, it seems like everyone is for this..... i just saw a turbonetics kit for $4500. I really don't have this kind of money to invest, now or maybe ever. and i would have to pay someone to install.... i just don't think i can afford going turbo? any thoughts?

i say wait it out, theres no point for the SC on an auto, hell on any car to be honest. just save your money and do it right the first time around

yes i had a NST 9.5 psi pulley and and IC but that doesnt account for an extra 60whp more than what you guys are saying the stock 7psi pulley puts down
It was on a dynojet which ive heard have some of the more accurate numbers....
