Default the moment that all 07 s/c tC's have been waiting for

ok so with only 10k on my car my belt brakes on my car, the outside was chewed off, and here's why when my car starts the belt moves over about a quarter of an inch off the ideler pully. so that much is hanging off of the ideler, causing the edge of the pully to wear away on the belt. ultimately causing it to break. so I take my car to the dear, mind you my car is completely stock. so I take it to the dealer after finding a belt myself sense toyota is back ordered on the belt. and its in the shop. I jjust got a call from the dealer saying. well it looks like you have an aftermarket pully on the s/c. wtf I got this installed by the dealership, and there is no way I could have an after market pully on there cause of the stoopid lock. so he says the tech has never seen a bolt like that on a s/c so I tell him they started putting that on the 07 s/c and no one can find the key. so they say there gonna look into it. so ultimately my s/c pully is f*cked and no one has the key to remove the pully. so what do you think will happen. will a dealership finally get a key. or will they replace the whole damn thing? we'll see. ill keepp you guys informed

Spelling and Grammar is your friend. "breaks off" not "brakes off". "Idler" not "ideler"

Don't overlook "since", not "sense".

Anyway, what Rythym'n'Blues said. Warranty work pays crap. It's a fixed cost that dealer gets paid to do the work, regardless of how much additional work is needed to make the job safe. (At least, according to what I remember from years ago when my father was a mechanic.) So to avoid getting paid nothing, they'll look for every excuse to get out of it. (No offense to guys who own/are from dealerships...I'm not trying to say you cheat customers.)

"Hey, my trunk lid rattles."
"Oh, it's because you have an aftermarket radio in there."
"Huh?"
"Yeah, see they put this piece of plastic in there, which is not as secure as the stock radio, and everything DEPENDS on that metal being there. Then, after a while, the trunk starts to rattle. See?"

Just keep on them.

actually it is just the opposite @ our dealership..
If we (the dealer) can't prove that the problem is DIRECTLY related to the aftermarket item, then is covered under warranty.

sounds like the technician that did the install didnt use the shims to adjust the pulley alignment.

So how did they take the bolt off? when they fixed it, did they put the same bolt on, or the older, easier to remove bolt?

x2 it ____es me off that the dealer thought of that dumba** excuse so your car won't get covered. Keep on arguing w/ them.... You should be able to get it fixed. I hate dealership warranties sometimes (expecially toyota ones) cuz they don' do jack

that is the same as our dealership too, since i have a tc, and i do read up on everything makin sure everything is fair. and when i call trd and spoke to one of there rep.. i thought it was stupid that they have a lock on it cause they dont know if that is shimmed right or not, on my sc it said much start with a base shim of .025mm or inch something like that...

There are procedures that dealers can do to increase their warranty pay rate (varies by location, of course). I was directly involved into raising the warranty pay rate when I was over at our Lexus store... so it might be an uninformed dealer that isn't getting the most out of warranty Though it's definitely a lot lower than a typical "customer pay" repair.
