The lines they are talking about go from the outlet on the turbo to the wastegate post to regulate boost PSI.

The wastegate and blow off valve both need a vaccum source. The vaccum lines, under boost carry air pressure to the wastegate diaphragm/spring. So say if the wastegate spring/diaphragm is rated at 7lbs, when the compressor/turbo boosts 7psi, this will push the spring up (on an external gate) opening the wastegate , or push an arm opening an internal flapper (internal gate) to regulate boost. No wastegate equates to uncontrollable boost levels. The blow off valve is held closed when boost is present in the vaccum lines and opens during vaccum.

So everything needing a vaccum source would be:

Wastegate
BOV
Boost Gauge
Any type of add on MAP sensor unit

Easiest place to T a line is off the vaccum line coming off the throttle housing. Then T the t's for however many more ya need.

wait acutally i have another question, so when you're not boosting, then are the lines instead of having air pressure "sucking" the air back hence vacuum and holding everything closed?
also why do some boost gauges include both vacuum and boost?

1) That's right
2) I guess to help identify if you have a vaccum leak, other than that, beats me
