New AEM Piggyback (Seems VERY promising)
Um...I wasn't saying VVT-i is a good idea (obviously it is), I was saying seeing if the F/IC will tuen VVT-i was a good idea. And it looks like it won't.
Vtec is an On/Off thing, so the F/IC can say when it comes on. VVT-i Is variable so this piggyback can't controll it.

I'm am currenlty getting a "too rich" code that comes on about a day or so after tune, but I just have not had a chance to go back to my tuner to fix it.
But not only was this my tuners first F/IC, it was also his first boosted tC! he's mainly a honda guy, so things run differently.
Gerebaldy has the F/IC in Colorado and he's not getting any codes, i beleive.

BTW I used to live in Cali and a bunch of us get together once a year in Vegas and next year we are lokking at April (the same weekend as the NHRA nats and go on Friday) so I would like to hookup with the TC crew out there.

But yea, if it doesn't include the ability to tune VVT-i, it will be a complete waste of money IMO. Why such a need for piggybacks? Do that many of you guys want to stay OBDII compliant, or just want to stay cheap?
So, I'm using Mr Meaty's tune right now until I get tuned on Monday. Every time I'm about to go into boost the car just gives out. It doesnt shut off or anything, just kinda stops until i let off the gas a little and drive normal again. It happens everytime I'm about to hit boost though. Any suggestions?
So then you are never able to actually get into boost?
Did it throw your CEL? You might try disconnecting the primary 02 sensor (from the plug, not the downpipe) to throw CEL and force the ECU into open loop.
Are you using the "sue" map or the "Base" map?

I would have to say that the aem piggyback is awesome. I just recently had my tune by dsr in cali and it has been running way much better than the emanage ultimate. No more cell problems and car stalling because of partial throttle. My tuner tuned it less than two hours. Any good tuner should be able to tune this unit with no problems. My car run so much better now, almost like stock, but with boost. I now think that the emanage crap compared to the aem piggyback!!!
I will check right now about the AFR's and also try disconnecting the O2 sensor. I'm using Sue's tune by the way.
Also I still had about half a tank of regular unleaded gas in my car. Could that have anything to do with it?

Codes are
P0172
P0351
P0352
P0353
P0354
I think the was code may have been from the CEL that was there before I put the new tune in though. Any ideas?
Oh yeah, and I can get into boost. It was just bogging out up there, and now it's boggin all over the place. Bought new sparks plugs and gonna see if that's it.

Changed spark plugs, started running great again. Went into boost a couple of time and it started doing it again badly. Gonna check the plugs in the morning to see if they got fouled again. AFR's during normal driving afr's are mid 14's didnt really get to notice what they were at WOT and now the car barely stays running so cant check again. Any help is greatly appreciated.

You should have disconected your negative battery terminal to clear your codes. So I would do that first.
Here is what your codes are:
P0172 Fuel Trim System Rich Bank 1
DTC P0351 Ignition Coil 1 Control Circuit
DTC P0352 Ignition Coil 2 Control Circuit
DTC P0353 Ignition Coil 3 Control Circuit
DTC P0354 Ignition Coil 4 Control Circuit
better to rich then to lean. I'm assuming those other 4 are your plugs?
Hmmm. How was your car running with the turbo and no F/IC plugged in at all?
Mine would run with the stock injectors but I got the "system too lean" code.
Now mine gets the 0172 code but not the others...I don't think...havent' checked!
Well I hooked up the F/IC up with the turbo although I dont know if there was any map on it. It ran well, just when I was gonna hit boost it would kinda stop till i eased off it. Then when I put the new map in, AFR's looked more stable but the spark plugs fouled out. I switched them and it ran great again but I tried pushing it again and right away it starting bogging down but way worse, its not really even drivable. No CEL yet though which is kinda weird. Gonna check the plugs again tomorrow morning. I just wanna be able to make it to the tuner Monday morning.
Well, your better off running with the AEM disconnected then with no map on it. But if the "Sue" map doesn't work, try the "Base" map. One of them should at least get you running clean (out of boost) to the tuner.
Yup, gonna put new spark plugs in once again
, put the "base tune" in and see how it drives out of boost,, then not touch it and baby it all the way to the tuner
Just hopefully I don't foul out anymore plugs. Gonna start getting expensive.
