I will do so in a new thread. There should be an RSVP link up this morning as well. I will get all the details together in one thread but in this forum and the regional forum of course.

All,
Talked to Turbonetics again today and we are on for video sessions this Friday to be posted on Friday night by me. I'm going to get some out of car shots too hopefully. If anyone in the area with a Tc would like to meet up that day we could do some comparo runs..

When do we find out if the kit is CARB legal? If it's CARB Legal, I may just say "F*** it!" and void my warranty (and give up my fog lights) to have one.

If my info is correct the paperwork has gone to CARB to request approval. Once CARB gets a test car its a matter of them checking all the trims etc and making sure it passes emissions testing. CARB certs take a LONG time to approve. For reference it took Vortech almost a year to get the kit approved for the z. Then again it only took Stillen like 4 months. It all depends on how slow or fast CARB does the paperwork.

Default adjusting boost

Can you turn the boost down to 6psi w/o changing the unichip mapping? will it make it run rich or lean? Samething for turning it up to 10psi? Do you know how much it cost to get an authorized unichip tech to tune the mapping?

If you turn the boost down the base map will run rich and if you turn the boost up it will be lean if you do not have it dyno tuned. Typical dyno tuning in Socal is $100/hr I would say using the base map as a starting point maybe 2 hours to make a 6 and 10 PSI map.

Hey all so I'm just back from Turbonetics..Just got done driving the Tc around and Holy crap that thing is fast!!! It seriously doesn't ever seem to stop pulling.. I got some video for the car both in and side by side as wel as some drive by footage. I will say this I had a VERY hard time keeping up with the Tc in my turbo 350Z. In 5th gear no less!!! The car runs like stock at idle and off boost but once you hit about 27-2900 RPMs it just takes off. It looks like full boost comes in around there 2700-2900 that is. Even in 5th at 2500 just cruising if you put your foot down the turbo spools immediately.. I also had a friend ride with me and drive the car who has a turbo G35 and even he said the car is just flat out an animal. He agrees that this is the fastest FWD car he has ever driven or riden so far. Even with the BOV re-circed the BOV is still very auible and sounds very good when open. Driveability remains stock like as in the AC works, the car doesn't stumble or die at idle, doesn't overheat even after 25 straight minutes of full boost and clutch drops. All in all it almost makes me want to buy a Tc just so I can have this kit...I drive a turbo 350Z every day and this is now definitely on top of the list for a daily driver when I turn that thing into a race only car (should be sooner rather then later)..I also took about 45 photos of the car and kit including the pics of the exhaust to show everyone what this thing does on a BONE STOCK Tc. I should have the videos and pics up in an hour or so. Just need to upload everything to my server and get it on my page..STAY TUNED!!

K lets say we californians buy the kit now, and hopefully you get the carb approval later. Having a carb approved kit is great. But purchasing the kit b4 it got approved is a different story. Will turbonetcis be sending cards or something to customers who purchaed the kit prior to the approval? If not its just a better idea to wait for the approval then purchase the kit.

Let say the kit will pass emission no problem. Are we gonna run into trouble when we get it smogged a few years down the road? Are they gonna issue a fix it ticket at the smog shop?

I may just ******* starve myself to save some pennies and get this kit.

It is my understanding when the kit gets approved, everyone will be issued a CARB exempt certification. The same kit that you buy now will be the same kit that goes to testing. So if you purchase the kit now and it gets CARB approved later you can call Turbonetics and they can send you a sticker for the kit. As for smogging later by getting approved as long as the car passes the sniffer (it will if its CARB approved) and you have a sticker when you smog or get pulled over you just show them the CARB sticker and go on your merry way...

I have a question about CARB. A little off the turbo kit subject. Assuming I get this kit since my car is titled and registered in Maryland I do not have to have my parts CARB approved correct? I will be living in SanDiego for a bit (I am in the Navy) but will not be a resident of California. So if I get pulled over for my aftermarket parts they can't get me for CARB since my car is titled and registered in a different state right?

That is absolutely correct.. I was in the Marines and tried to keep all my cars registered in Florida while I was in..
