thats because none of us here build engines for a living. i could tell you what i think you should get, but that would only be going off what ive learned from reading and studying, not from building an actual engine. i would feel bad if i gave you incorrect information on something as vital as a head gasket. call the shop doing your install and ask them.

well its just a matter of what headgasket size matches with what piston size.. i wasnt sure if i needed a bigger headgasket than piston size or not.. or if it was supposed to be matched.

Head gasket size should match the pistion diameter. It the gasket it bigger then the cylinder bore, you could get premature gasket failure or head lift... The the gasket is smaller then cylinder bore you will effectively raise the compression ratio slightly, and may lead to some engine damage depending on how the car is tuned.

well look at it this way once its in the shop they have to take the motor out get the block to the machinist that will take a week to two not like your car will be the only car they will have its a long process not like its in and out i rather it take a month then a day for something like that tells you that they will take there time and maybe they gave you a conservitive est to be safe so they dont miss a dead line could be alot of reasons

Thats tru, in my experience with tC builds, it took about 6 hours to pull the motor and trans and tear down, leaving only the assembled head and bottom end. I am usually able to get the head and block to the machinist the same day. Machine shop should take about 3 days to do a basic rebuild maybe 4 if they sleeve it. And finally 2 days to assemble the engine, set the timing, mate the tranny outside the car, and drop in the car as an entire assembly. The least amount of time I took on one of these cars top to bottom was 5 days, the most was 8 (and that was at a snails pace). But like you said if they have a couple of projects going on, it will take longer.

Just to let u kno... The stock valves are fine, but going to an aftermarket will either lighten the valve or make it flow more or both... And youd want to know those specs, because light weight valves on a boosted car might not always be good... I have had experience with lightened or light weight valves bending under high boost apps... Id keep the light weight stuff for N/A IMO.

Understand you want stronger, but there isnt a stronger one on the market, there is only lighter or higher flowing... So if he says stronger I believe him to be yanking your crank, but I may be mistaken. Find out the maker of the valves if you can.

he used ferrea valves.

1 more thing. we put the 89mm head gasket ontop of the newly .20 over bored block with my 89mm pistons in there and it seems that it might not be big enough .. its really close.. when we lined it up perfectly it seemed that the piston MIGHT hit the gasket if its not 100% perfect but when u crush the gasket it might move. anyone no if they make a 90mm gasket anywhere? i feel safer going with the 90.
