hey does anyone know what kind of oil i should use on my 2006 scion tc turbo. should i keep on using 5-30 or should i switch over to 10-30

 

do what it says on the cap i believe it says 5w-30, my brains kinda dead rite now cant remeber.

If your wondering what oil and oil filters we use or anything related to oil theres a thread on here about everything you could ever want to know about oil, i believe its called oil change not sure. just search for it you'll find it.

 

The first number is the initial viscosity. For our engines you NEED that low number to keep the hydraulics in the heads working properly.

If you do anything, go to a full synthetic.

 

I use 5w-40.. Greddy GR2 oil

i use amsoil very good stuff they are the leaders in synthtic oil u cant get much better than that bro. they also have charts to show u and compare there competitors which dont even come close!!

 

Amsoil 5w30 for the summer. I think i'm gonna go with 10w30 for the winter - it gets cold here.

 

I think you have that backwards. You would want to run the 10w30 in the summer and the 5w30 in the winter.

The first number is the oil's COLD weight. So you would want a lower weight when it is cold and a higher when it is hot.

just bought 4 qts of synthetic 10w-40. Not extremely cold here just yet. When it gets close to freezing, i'll bump back down to 5w-30 possibly 5w-50.

 

I've been running 10W-30 full synthetic since day one. Recently I switched from Mobile 1 to Royal Purple and I love it.

 

Is Castrol syntec still Ester based? I looked all over the container while at autozone and didn't see anything.

 

Mobil1 is definitely dino-oil based, Syntec probably is too.
