is it okay to drive an untuned turbo at 5psi?

but i heard that it is okay to run 5psi untuned. then when im ready for a tune, ill go for 7psi or 8
basically...no, it is not okay. as soon as you hit boost, car goes boom.
the zpi stage zero kit was a much smaller turbo then the t3/t4 that comes with a turbonetics kit. so no, do no drive around un tuned.

the only place i would drive it un-tuned is to the tuner. and like it was said thats only if you totally stay out of boost. even then i wouldnt feel safe, save until you have enough for a tune, then install the turbo and trailer the car to the tuners.

dude i've been boosted since apr 08 and i drive it everyday and it is fine. i bought my kit used and i boost everyday. just dont drive it like a d*ck. I've just been running super rich until i tune in a few weeks
.
i would atleast get a base map to start things off with......lots of people will help you out in that department. just ask around. better safe than sorry, i have run without a tune for a day or two but with larger injectors which kinda sucked but it can be done and if your careful about it you wont have a problem, however i do stress you do this at your own risk....if something happens dont come to me....lol

not really, but FINE i'll admit it.
ive been driving for almost 5 months on boost with not even a management system plugged in, our cars can handle it, just no WOT.
partial throttle boost the car handles 5 pounds just fine.
or maybe im lucky

yeah wot sucks becouse with larger injectors i noticed id go hella rich but i noticed slight boost up to 5psi would lean out bad if you wher in closed loop (ie partial throttle). atleast thats what i observed.
yea closed loop at 5 psi your ecu would make the afr's around 12ish.
which is bad for turbo...but if you're willing to risk it, by all means. 12 isn't THAT bad. i have seen a piston with a hole in it after 12's at 5 pounds though
