^^ yeah in other words, the wider the wastegate is open the louder it gets.. so at low boost you could barely hear it if not none at all

 

i have an open dump and i hear it flutter at 0 and it gets pretty annoying....but it sounds pretty sick at full boost....

 

^^ thats your bov, no way your wastegate will open when not in boost, and wastegate doesnt flutter

WG's don't flutter.

 

my WG is opening up throughout boost so idk what ur talking about.. that ____ is so loud and is open through the boost.

 

^^ depends on the spring too, if you have a softer spring, it opens earlier even on low boost, some boost controllers have options to make it open early at lower boost to prevent boost spikes or open late to reduce lag but yeah is hell loud

 

Well, I guess the other 90% of boosted tC's who don't hear anything out of the WG till full boost must be having car issues....

 

im like 200% sure its definately my wastegate...not trying to start anything but there no way my bov is fluttering with me half throttle.....i hear my turbo spooling then backed by a fluttering sound it sounds like an exhaust leak...take into consideration i have no dump tube just a wastegate and the open dump on a zpi stage 1 kit... maybe flutter is the wrong word to use...ill stick with exhaust leak( which it is)

 

^^Consider yourself one of a kind then. The tC with the only fluttering WG. You are probably hearing compressor surge, buuuuuutttt....if you insist that it's the WG, then it's the WG.

it's not hte wastgate man, for a wastgate to open your car has to create a positive amount of vac/boost a la spring rate.

at half throttle you would be hearing hte BOV.

 

correction not 0 like 2 or 3 pounds it starts to sound like an exhaust leak...it has a 7.5 pound spring

 

you can't realy hear an exhaust leak

it would pretty much sound like you have no muffler if it was an exhaust leak, wastegate/bov/exhaust leaks are three very distictive sounds

wastegate sounds like air rushing out, no flutter

 

the zpi kit with an open dump has a pulsing tone to it which is very different from other kits i dont know why but it just does and yes mine does flutter or watever

 

is there anyone in th eastern PA area that i can take for a ride to verify what im saying lol

 

I have/had a ZPI Stage 1 for 2 years+. Trust me, it's open dump is no different than any other open dump.

 

ok rythm look at ur vid when u first put on the kit and then look at dezods open dump video

 

^^ vids dont do justice, sounds will be different depending on the video cam but yeah no wastegate flutter... and the bov flutters easily on vacuum where wastegate doesnt even open.. and i do agree, open dump is open dump, the kind of noise it makes is similar and it more on the wastegate design and nothing to do with the manifold and the kit. but you not having the dump tube might be the reason that it sounded different

 

^^ tru i guess the its definately the absense of a dumptube which i should make lol....back to the original topic......dezods kit has an open dump option which im not sure if they include an atmospheric dumptube

 

I think all open dump turbo kits made for the tc comes with a dumptube except one from turbotoyotas..
