Default opps i Slipped!!

Well i was out last night playing with my car and this noob in a pro-charger with nitrous came to the spot talking all sorts of crap since i beat him awhile back when i was on a ZPI kit and well he was on street tires as myself. so he wanted to go from a roll and well long story short i lost! thanks to my FX400 4puck un-sprung clutch saying goodbye to my tranny. At first i didn't even realize what was wrong pulled over and there was smoke and poped the hood found it coming from the wheel region def. is the clutch really sucks for acouple of reason. 1st one is i was talking so much ____ back to this dude and now i look like a noob with just another slow scion LOL, and for the 2nd reason i really don't know what clutch to use..... I would really like to know what all those high power guys are running. Like, Ptuning TA car, Horizon car that went 9.96, Chris Rado's TA car, gt35r guys from PR,ect.... Really don't want to have to buy 2 more clutchs i want to make this my last clutch to get so Dezod, Todd, and ptuning your input on this Please Help out a fellow ScionLifer....

I have no solid numbers from a dyno or track as my local track is closed i did get a solid tune that i've been tweaking here and there from Phil. It feels strong i was waiting on a smaller exhaust a/r and then take it to a dyno to finish the tuning myself but now it looks like i'll be forking alot of money on the Twin Disc. I really wanted to get the Intake manifold too. now that will have to what along time now LOL. Its just a bummer i just would really like to see my options out there and get this all fixed up and on a dyno ASAP.

Ptuning is running a Twin Disc clutch, and I'm willing to bet Rado, and Horizon are too. Twin Disc will pretty much solve your current and future issues involving the clutch. What turbo are you using again mike?

PS....Now you know its better to talk **** AFTER the race...lol.

Yeah, I've ran up against a Pro Charged GT Stang as well. One of the new 06-07 body style ones. To bad for him, it was an auto.

Anyhow, I know what you mean about the dudes that talking all the time. At what point in the race were you when your clutch gave out?

What A/R is your turbine? Is it .82?

PS....Now you know its better to talk poop AFTER the race...lol.
They're all runninga twin disc setup, including our time attack tC--we're using it not only for the extra TQ holding capacity, but for the quicker shift as a result of the smaller diameter clutch/pressure plate pack. We're running a ClutchMasters stage 6.5 twin disc setup (spec'd for road racing with two different clutch disc compound). Slipping is no longer a problem, but as hp/tq increases and the clutch no longer slips, the next weakest link in the tranny will give, whether it be the axles, hubs, or tranny. Let us know when you're ready to upgrade to a twin disc.

The only way to make a single disc setup hold more torque capacity is to increase the diaphram pressure on the pressure plate which leads to excessive pedal pressure, which will lead to excessive load on thrust bearing when the clutch pedal is engaged. Excessive thrust bearing load will eventually cause crankwalk issues.

^^That's some good information MrC. I did not know that about the diameter differences and the pressure on the thrust bearings. I know the pedal pressure is pretty stiff with my CC Stage 4.

Cool, cool. Yeah .81 a/r is pretty big. The BB helps out, but at what RPM does that .81 spool?

Yeah, think I would have to spray on it to spool that a little faster. Have you increased your redline? 5500, man that seems like a long time.

.81 is a t4 and thats full boost and i'm reving to 7200rpm this is going to be drag car. I am changing out the a/r for a lil smaller one for now or i might just buy cams and tune them in but for the stock cams i'll probley only see 500rpm diffrence with hours and hours of tuning. .82a/r is a t3 which would spool better then almost any t4 being that it flows less volume. but please this thread really wasn't ment for my turbo i was trying to get input on clutches from the veterans out there. Thank you for your answers thus far.

ive driven a tc with a cc stage 4 and i am not a huge fan of it. now the only experiance i have with twin discs is driving my friends evos home after they've had to much to drink at the bar. both evos feel great in comparisson. i know they are 2 different cars but if a twin disc on a tc is anything like the evos i am sold on it. its a great feeling clutch in comparison to the cc stage 4 on a tc.

and touche on the ar. i spaced that i have a t3 turbine. i shoulda payed more attention. sorry mike. its hard to take it all in when im sneaking on SL on my cell phone at work

I love me CC Stg4. I pound on it a lot - and yes I do smell it at times, but it grabs hard and consistently.
