Default A-Pillar Pod Install

Just picked up a Glowshift A-pillar and the instructions arent worth the paper their printed on. Im wondering how this thing is mounted. Do i just tap into the stock a-pillar or do i have to take off the stock panel and screw them in that way? Any help really appreciated as this is my first time doing gauges. Also where did you guys tap your power from. I picked up some T connectors from radioshack but im not yet sure where to tap from.

also, I was thinking about the side curtain air bag. If that was to deploy, wouldn't it send plastic and gauges all over your face? Just a thought....

I believe, if you ave the side curtain air bag, you're not supposed to have an a-pillar pod. Then the other option would be the ATI triple pod.

yea I would assume that is correct. It just seems like certain disaster if that air bag goes off! You would have glowshift imprinted into your forehead!

i have the glowshift pod and i think it is a pos. the gauges are ok but i have since replaced them.

it is not that great of a fit unless you use all the screws to screw it on to the stock pillar. the problem i had with that was that i have side curtain airbags. i dont want a screw tearing the airbag as it is being deployed for obvious
reasons.

i just used one screw at the top above the airbag to hold it on.

i was able to t-tap into the headlight fuse and i always drive with at least my driving lights on all the time.

as far as the gauges flying into your face, it could happen but im sure that there are more important things to worry about if all of your airbags are going off. besides the side airbag deploys at a downward angle and covers the window.

i honestly don't think the gauges will fly in your face. but i could see one of 2 things happening. 1. the weight of the gauges and pod will cause the airbag to not deploy properly. 2. the air bag will deploy but send the gauges flying into your windshield breaking ether the gauges, the windshield or maybe both.

also a good place to wire to is the cigarette lighter

the side airbag deploys from the head liner

it goes down the a pillar about 3-4 inches, but you are right, the bulk of it is from the head liner

well see i didnt want to ruin my stock a-pillar so i took my stock off and custom fabbed a L-bracket from frame to the pillar pod on the inside...

All you see is one small bolt at the top of the a-pillar with black cap over it that i need to paint to compeltely match...

actually its a bit more then 4" but still it only goes into the pillar a little bit that's why i don't see it being a problem with hitting the driver ... however the 2 other things i mentioned is what i would be the most concerned about.

I have the gaugepods.com pod, which I think is exactly the same as the glowshift one, and it also fits like crap. I currently have it installed over my stock a-pillar, but am going to remove it soon and hopefully it will fit better. I powered my gauges using an add-a-fuse to the fuse block under the dash, I think to the gauge or ecu fuse, I can't remember.
