Default Is Powershifting when Boosted bad?

Is Powershifting bad when Boosted? I know Powershifting is bad overall even when your not boosted because your putting more stress on your clutch but if I Powershift would it damage the turbo in anyway?

powershifting isn't good period. use the clutch pedal, if you don't want to, you should of gotten an automatic.

i don't think it could hurt the turbo because it is mostely something that will stress the clutch and synchronizers.

LOL....Powershifting and Boosted...Wouldn't drive it any other way when I race. You shift to slow you fall out of boost. When you power shift, boost never goes back into vac.

rhythmnsmoke... i can't believe your transmission didnt give out on ya before the engine lol.. i guess now we kno the tC has a beefy tranny too...

I cant imagine it EVER doing anything to the turbo, however turbo=more torque and more torque=more stress on the drivetrain, so if you were asking if it is more dangerous when booseted than when stock, i would assume that it is more dangerous.

No, I did have tranny/clutch issues before any motor problem ever came about....lol. The 5th gear went out in the tranny, so I just dropped in another one. The clutches, well...the first one was just not good enough to begin with. The last one, was my fault it needed replacing.

So lets clarify everything....the Member's above that was stating about your transmission replacement wasn't true to the fullest? So the problem was a faulty fifth gear? What exactly happen to your motor?

That's in another thread, called "Boosted for over 1 1/2 and first motor problem", so you can check that out. Let's not highjack this one about powershifting. And on that note, if you Power Shift as much as I do, be sure that you are changing your tranny fluids about as often as you do your oil (3k miles when running turbo, imo). And also, not just any tranny fluid. I recommend either Royal Purple, or Redline MT-90. Both are absolute wonderful products. I have Royal Purple in ours along with Royal Purple engine oil. Expensive stuff, but there is a reason why it cost more.

what about this, when i'm driving more aggressive than usual, i noticed that i don't take my foot completely off the gas between shifts, i keep the pedal down just a hair, and it keeps the rpms up about 1000 rpms above what they are with i let the clutch in, like i was hauling butt the other day, and i would rev up to 5500 rpms, start to upshift, and keep my foot slight on the pedal, and it would be at about 5000 rpms and then 4000 rpms when i let the clutch in. this is all really quick, since i shift pretty fast or atleast alot faster than when i first got the car. would this kind of technique be bad on a boost tc? is this technique bad period? i don't know, maybe it would stay in boost and not vac...

I have a ZPI Race clutch in our car. My clutch is fine, but good looking out though. Not to mention, the Stock clutch would last me no longer than a week (IF) I was babying the car and never went into boost. What I consider normal driving....lol, it would last a Day.

lol, yeah, call me kyle...or sudo from now on! man, that would get soooo annoying to have a turbo tc backfiring every single shift. yuck! and it shortens the life of the turbo so dramatically.

you can still powershift using the clutch... you just never let go of the gas pedal (this is the definition of powershifting)

If your not going to explain why than I suggest you don't post at all.
