you can't remove the air bag, if you do, none of your airbags will work. (it is also a federal offense to remove airbags) so you'll have to mount them somewhere else, like with a center mount dash gauge pod, or cubby hole, or where ever.

not trying to argue? THEMS FIGHTING WORDS! lol.

but yeah, in the tech section, there is an air bag light resister trick to make the car think that the air bags are still there. but one for the pillar air bags, i don't know.

https://www.scionlife.com/forums/sho...d.php?t=101843

i have side air bags, so rather than a guage pod on the pillar, i used the center mount e-pod

you dont need to remove or do anything to the side air bags if your going to a a-pillar pod...i have side air bags and they dont get in the way at all...as a matter of fact the air bag only comes down the a-pillar about 2 inches, if they blow in theory they should throw the pillar pod open like a swinging door. Imho they shouldnt come flying at your face or anything like that. My only _____ about the a-pillar pod is the fact it gets in the way sometimes. The dash pods are nice and look clean, but you end up drilling holes into your dash. You drill holes into an a pillar cover if you go with the a pillar pods but its much cheaper to replace the a-pillar cover than it is the dash. I can sometimes get the a-pillar cover for 40-50 bux, the dash (i just checked with my local junk yard) is around 400-450...so pick your poisen.

yeah the side pillar doesnt get in the way of the airbags, the airbags come out of the top of the door panel above the driver side window, not where the pillar goes.like crush said, if you drill holes in the dash, your screwed if you ever take the kit out.

so it is entirely possible to install an a-pillar pod even with side curtain bags? and im not scared of getting hit in the face by gauges if the airbag does deploy haha

i think you should be good but the only way we would know is to try to deploy air bag with the a pillar on. But think about it, do you think toyota designed the side airbags that way the a pillar doesnt go flying when it deploys?

are all a-pillar pods created equal or is there a certain brand that installs easier than others? Crush, what brand is your pod?

the company i got mine from i dont think is open anymore (pro-motion tuning)...it was the best a-pillar pod to get for the tc when i first started out...now idk which ones are as good if not better than the promotion tuning pod.

i was just think of getting one off the private party classifieds. There is a autometer and a glowshift one for sale. I heard glowshifts dont install for ____ though. Think I'd be better off buying new?
