Default Question about turbo

alright guys i am trying to find out as much information on a turbo kit as possible. when u tune your car do u set it at a certain psi before u tune and tune to that psi. or do u just tune and set it at whatever psi u want. another question is if it set at psi and tune it, say if i tune my turbo kit on my car at 8 psi and it runs great and everything. if i want a lil more power could i crank up the boost and it still run good or would i have to re tune it to the higher psi? just some things i dont know and would like to know. and what is a good way to go about choosing which trim to get. ive heard its good to get each side the same size to limit turbo lag a lot and better for the car or something idk. and say i want a turbo that spools quick but not too quick. dont want to be on the interstate doing like 60 in boost. what would be a good size turbo that spools around 3000-3500 rpm. pls let me know. thanks

Well first off, you wont be in boost with any turbo setup on the highway crusing at 60mph. Boost is not determined by speed, rather it is determined by throttle position, aka, how much your pressing on the gas pedal.

2nd.

The wastegate determines what psi your running, Im sure you know that. Since the wastegate determines that, it automatically means that you tune will be based of whatever lb spring your wastegate has.

That is unless you get a Boost Controller, and turn the boost up.

and yes you wont run as nice as you did on 8lbs, when u turn the boost up farther.

You have to be tuned out for it all. It will still run, but not as good, and your AFR's will be all messed up.

Plus, Im positive you will be more than content with 8lbs anyway.

and for trim...

The Dezod Kits come with a t3/t4 turbo that is a 50 trim with a .48ar

some will argue this is best for a 4 cylinder since the spool time is rather nice, but on my turbo kit, I chose to go with Ol' Faithful, t3/t4 57 trim .63ar.

Either way youll be fine.

Have fun and read as much as you can!

ok thanks. and i wasnt necessarily talking about the speed i would be going at 60 i ment the rpms the engine would be spinning at. and spooling at 60 i have heard from a friend of mine that the zpi stage 0 kit spooled real quick and he couldnt really get on the interstate and cruise without being in boost. and yes i would have a wastgate with prob a 7.5 psi spring and i would like to get a boost controller as well. so having a wastegate with a 7.5 psi spring and getting it tuned and i should be good to go right? and thanks for all the help. just learning a few more things till i decide to order my turbo kit.
