Question About Turbo Kits And Coating
Here's probably a pretty easy set of questions, but what can/should I get coated with a turbo kit. I'm probably going to coat my manifold with jethot, but should I coat any of the piping or intercooler piping? If so, what kind of coating? Is it more for aesthetics or performance?
Also, I've been told that powdercoating or painting an intercooler is a bad idea since it effects its ability to dissipate heat. I know BlkSandPrlTurbotC painted his and I think it would look great aesthetically, but if it takes away from the permformance of the intercooler then I might hold off.
Any help/info would be appreciated...

cerma coat is a great option not only does it look good but the thermal capabilites have been known to increase horsepower in their own. The key is cold air anything you can do to reduce intake air temps is a good thing.

I would jet coat the manifold, turbine housing and maybe a foot down the downpipe (If you have a cat then I'd do the whole DP). I dunno about the compressor cover though, I don't see how that would help as that's on the "cold" side of the turbo.
As for the intercooler/piping I've heard Swain Tech makes a coating that is supposed to help dissipate heat but I've never seen any substantiated results. Don't powdercoat the piping or intercooler, it reduces the effectiveness of the IC and piping. If you want to make it look nice and pretty you can have it anondized.

I actually did some more searching on the intercooler topic and found a few links...

This looks pretty hot - http://www.ultrarev.com/product.php?productid=29397

I wanted to go red on the intercooler and either black or red on the turbo parts, but now I'll have to see. Decisions decisions
