well thats retarded, i would imagine they would give you all of the parts that came with the kit, they are yours. Thats why dealer=fail, its like when people get s/c's installed and the dealer tosses their stock parts.

Well I mean like, I bought the kit back in July of 08, and I had a dealership install it for me. It was a full kit, with the auto fit kit. All I got back was part of the intake, the old thermastat, Old injectors, and the stock belt, and the exhaust cover. No shims or anything like that. What kind of shims are they? and do they have to be toyota shims?

TRD 2.4AZ S/C, Driven Pulley Shim Asst. Kit Replacement Part PTR41-21065

you will probably have to special order this part from toyota dealership.

also, I don't think you can get the belt to run directly in the center of the idler pulleys. My belt sits right on the edge of the idler pulleys but none of the belt hangs off. Like i said earlier, even if the belt is completely running on the idler pulleys, you still might need to shim the s/c drive pulley so the belt is running perfectly aligned with all other pulleys.

Hmm ok. Well I got 2 bearing this morning, and Im gonna try and take it apart in a little while. Ill look to see if they are lined up before taking stuff apart. Im hopefully not gonna have to touch the SC unit itself or the pulley for it, Im hoping that I can just take the idlers out and replace those bearing. Would getting to them be any easier if I were to lift that side of the engine for a little bit?

Shim is little a little round piece of metal used to align things. On the SC application it goes behind the SC pulley to push it out so that the rest of the pulleys can also be in line..http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Shim_(engineering)

It is not supposed to sit farther, all the pulleys on the engine should be lined up to one another. Can you describe how the belt sits on the pulley's? It might help figure out whats wrong.

I have one more quick question before I dive into this. What do you guys use to loosen the tensioner pulley? As well as how do you tighten it back up afterward? Or is it made so that it loosens when turned in one directions, and tightens the belt when turned in the other? Thats for all the help guys, your answers are really appreciated. :D

Ok so I looked thru the installation manual for the SC, took out the pulley's and tried to spin them by hand.. they werent spinning freely like my new bearings. I also realized that the factory used rubber shielded bearings, but I picked up some metal shielded which I hope will last longer with the heat. The only problem I have with them is that I dont know the speed rating on them, but I dont know if it matters. Thanks again guys for your help :D I just need to put the belt back on, and fire her up, to make sure everything is ok. I will let you guys know how it goes :D
