speaking from experience, boosting upwards of 10psi will shorten the life of the stock engine. You should go to 3" exhaust at minimum and stay within the 10 range to lengthen engine life unless you plan to build. You also might want to install an LSD to get full use of HP you already have (did not see where you mentioned if your ride had this installed). As for boost controllers, some work some don't. Each is dependent on the car it is installed on.

Exhaust is going to depend on the kit to an extent. I ran the descendant kit on 10 psi with stock exhaust except for an axle back and it ran perfect. New 3" exhaust and boost creep brought that to about 12 psi. Had to adjust fuel. Then when colder air came, October/November time I was seeing anywhere from 13-14ish.

The wastegate was too small for the turbo and 3" exhaust. Upping boost and building engine so it won't be an issue but its something to ask about.

Build the motor if you wanna up the boost and push big numbers. Also, make sure you don't exceed the manifold's capability. I believe the log manifold is good up to 350 hp. I too wanna get bigger hp numbers, so I'm switching to a 3" exhaust. Currently tuned at 11 psi, but only run 7 daily (10 if I feel spirited). You might wanna start looking at the alpha kit...

Alpha can be used to recycle several of the components from the S1 like the IC pipes and IC....The setup has capability of HUGE power if pieced together right. Some examples below on GT35 setups.

and

Just 2 examples of what she can do

Do you already have an lsd? If not, I'd recommend installing one over upping the power. Made a WORLD of difference in my car, and the quaife/trd lsd's are crazy cheap now!!
