Default Simple kit > S/C?

So next month I am going to be getting the Supercharger, I decided to go this route for a number of reasons, mostly because the hassle of CARB in NY state now. And the warranty.

Would a TT Simple kit at 5psi make more ponies? If so, by how much?

yes it would..
and the thing is with the turbo u can up the boost just by getting tuned .. u can easily hit 250 whp with the simple kit
u wont get near that with the s/c even with lots of mods.

s/c with 12 lb pulley, CAI, engine management, exhaust and header will get you 250 easily...i had 220whp with just the 9lb pulley, exhaust, CAI and engine management, and stock header

I love my s/c and 9.5lb pulley. Its designed to work with the car and makes plenty of power. I'm somewhere around 220 with similar mods as Buddha mentioned above.

S/C with needed parts and upgrades to get 250whp = $6-7k

Simple kit to get 250whp = $4k

Getting bent over by NY CARB rules = reason I get Supercharger.

You'll still get harassed if you're running an exhaust. Turbo with a catted midpipe and a resonator would be as quiet as a stock tC with a TRD axle back. Don't know how long the inspection stickers last in NY, but mines good til 2012..

Cat or no cat, a turbo is still more efficient than a supercharger.

To be honest I don't believe this is a true statement. All of the issues that I have seen have been with the 05-06 tC. Not once have a seen an issue with an 07+

There were obviously changes to the S/C that were made because TRD realized that something wasn't right.

I am quite confident in my future purchase.

That would be awesome ... but simply not the case here in NY. You must get your car inspected and emissions tested every 12 months. Thanks DMV!

Damn that blows, lol. You should have bought your car in Jersey, all new cars get a 4 year sticker.

It doesn't matter where you buy the car, what matters is where it is registered.

I am thinking of moving to NJ next year anyways. By then I hope to have enough money for a second car, I am thinking a Hybrid.

Wait...to renew your registration you need to pass an emissions test? Hahaha that blows. Move. It's cheaper to live in NJ anyway.

I dunno where he gets that from because I live in NY and I had to re-registered my car and I didn't have to get an emissions test

Agreed. Mine is an 06 from after they revised the bracket and I've had it on over a year without a single problem with it or because of it. It was installed by the dealer mechanic of my choosing and I beat the hell out of it on a daily basis. No troubles what so ever.
