Default Slim Fans

Before everyone says search, i did just that. There not definitive information regarding which slim fans work and which don'. Im having a slight clearance problem with my turbo compressor housing hitting the oem fan shroud. I have the same manifold and turbo as marceloTc. I alreay pm'ed him to see how he's working things out. But based on what i see, i think i only need to address the driver's side fan. Is there anyway i can just make that one fan a slim fan without getting rid of the shroud?? Is ther any actual feed back on the following:

mishimoto fan shroud
inserting fans into the factory location with the factory shroud in place/modified
permacool fans

I have the Mishimoto fan & shroud combo installed with my TT kit. It's VERY close, but mainly because I used a T04E housing when it's meant for a T04B housing (smaller). If I were to do it again, I'd just cut the crap and buy something like that PTuning kit (or get 2 Permacools or something from Summit?) and mount them to the front (push-through setup). That'd give you the maximum clearance for sure.

hmmmm, well first, i thought that a "push-through" setup was less efficient? My understanding was that a pull type setup is better, which is what is oem. Furthermore, I spoke with a reliable source which stated that there have been some quality control issues with the Mishimoto fan & shroud setup, such as fans failing.

Its starting to look like slim fans are a hit or miss and it depends on your set up.

Also, one last thing, my turbo is water cooled, so thats another factor to add into the equation.

dont get mishimoto because if you find the reviews here you'll see that its proven they are not powerful at all.
I was looking at permacool fans they offer great flow, but i'm going to SPAL fasn thru Ptuning because ptuning will also supply mounting hardware and wires which i think otherwise i'd have to buy separately.
Plus my tuner Vinny Ten told to get SPAL as he uses them on all Z's and G's that he builds and he really likes them.

yeah push through is way more less effecient.. mainly coz of the ac condenser reducing most of the air flow..if you can fit pull fans thats so much better

Well I have no a/c or a/c condensor...no hood latch support....and wire tuck so I dont want the fans inside the engine bay....also, tight fitment issues with the turbo. I also have OBX silicone hoses, Gates 170* low temp thermostat, and highpressure radiator cap. Hopefully it works out.

John then I really suggest getting a custom radiator made. Get a half-sized - with 2" aluminum core, you'll still be way more efficient than oem.

hmmm.....what about a shroud?? My understanding is that the majority of the cooling is done as a result of the shroud itself?

I've been using the Mishimoto fan/shroud assembly for about 8 months now with no probs. Worst case scenario, if the fans take a crap, I'll just fab up some brackets if need be to get the SPAL's on the Mishimoto shroud.

^ Nice.

I've been using the OEM fans and shroud on my Mishimoto. I'm also using a Tnetics kit like yourself.
