Default supercharger or turbo on A/T 2008

I have a daily driver that I put alot of miles on. I have had her for 9 monthes and she has 32k on the motor. What setup will give me the less problems and I am more likely ro put it on at 50k miles. I might buy a daily driver and let my toy at home. Price ranges are helpful but I want something that is nice not over powering just looks good and sounds good. Thank you for your advice.

Although I'm a turbo advocate, it sounds like what would best fit you is a TRD Supercharger. It's not overbearing and it will cost you less. And on top of that, you can always take it back to the dealer with any issues.

if its an auto, just get the supercharger. if you want to go turbo, it is more expensive, voids your warranty, and the automatic tranny can't hold the power that a turbo kit puts out. you'll be limited to about 240 whp.

i preach after spending my life savings on getting a built auto tranny that NOBODY go past 220 whp/wtq (dynojet numbers) if u want ur tranny to last. honestly go S/C and then do bolt ons if u really must. if u dont have extra money laying around dont turbo the auto ull end up doing a swap or buying a new tranny in the long run.. i killed my tranny in 9k miles with boost.

yea, I was thinking that power doesnt really interest me I had the fast cars before I just want a toy that looks and sounds good. My warranty will be out by mileage in a year anyway with how far I drive to work money isnt really a problem. Can anyone tell me what would be a nice sounding setup for a s/c with header exhaust and intake?

I'm no S/C expert with Scions.. but I hear a common good sounding combo (and someone please correct me if I'm wrong) is a TRD S/C with MMW Header, any 2.5" mid-pipe with atleast one resonator, and an ARK N1 axleback...

But I'm sure there are so many different combinations that sound good.

You can't use a CAI without heavy modification to it on the S/C I thought?

Not true! I have an Injen CAI on my tC with the supercharger. Just takes some mild custom fabbing.

I would go supercharger for your situation. I got a auto first car and realized how retarded I was. Next I wanted a turbo realized on a auto I would kill the tranny so I went supercharger. Is not as fast as a trubo but still sounds good

Of course, nothing can really stop you if you want to install it, and hope you don't get caught. It is up to you.

With the S/C, at least I've heard from asking around. You're best bet is to spend 50+ bucks buy a K&N Drop-In Filter.

first off, you want to spend a few grand on f/i just to "look good and sound good" ??? you aren't going to win any car shows, so I'm not even sure what "looking good" is all about...do you drive with your hood open?

as if that wasn't a big enough waste of thousands of dollars...you are tracking to do 42k miles per year. Next year you will already be at approximately 85k. FI puts additional abuse on your engine and drivetrain, so you are limiting the amount of usable time with your vehicle.

That is of course also forgetting that with 3.5k miles per month your car depreciates so fast...wait...in the time I took to write this post you lost about $350 in kelly blue book value!

Do yourself a favor and don't listen to anyone else here...Spend no substantial amount of money on that DD (except for maybe some fuzzy dice). Take the few grand and invest in a used weekend toy that you can 'supe up.
