Default Test drove White RS 2.0 A/T TC. Running horrible...

Well, I am getting very impatient with wanting to install my turbo into my car, because I want to know how it will be like once having it in. I was browsing some Dealerships in my area and saw a white turbocharged Scion TC (automatic).

I went inside to ask them more information regarding to the Scion TC and they said to me, that they just recieved it and nothing was wrong it it. They also told me that the transmission was fully rebuilt and have spent thousands on the upgrade.

I punched it around a turn and let off the gas.... something I thought would've never happened did. The car completely turned off, so I had to hurry and put it in nuetral to restart the darn thing. I opened the throttle about halfway this time on a straight away and again, it stalled.

They are wanting to sell the car to me for $10,000 out the door, but not knowing I just wanted to see how it felt to drive a Turbo TC.

Would the problems with this car be because of a bad tune? Or would something else have caused the car to stall?

1st off it wasn't an rs 2, those are blue. 2nd are you auto or manual?

my car has done this before as well after letting off the throttle after winding out say 2nd and 3rd gear. it only happened once though so knock on wood i guess lol. its most likely the tune

what bov did it have? i have a hks ssq and this never happen to me before but i have read a couple of threads about people with the greddy bov doing this when it dumps into the atmosphere so most people recirculate it then again if your tuner is awsome they can work around that.

^^ only if it leaks real bad. im my experiance you can tune for an atmospheric bov, i havnt run accros an example were i couldnt. Iv tuned cars with hks ssqv version 2, ssqv version 3, greddy type rz, greddy type rs, and so on. all were vent to atmosphere. I can only remember one that i didnt even try to tune and that was with a turboxs RFL bov, that thing leaked bad when doing a boost leak test so i didnt try to tune it. I replaced it with a hks ssqv version 3, I swear the 3rd version got better, little to no flutter.

in anycase the issue you were seeing could be a number of things mumu.
tune
improper install
leaks
you get the idea.

tell that dealership if they want it fixed to call me..lol

id buy that car aslong as they would allow me to do a compression test on it, if it passed chances are i could fix its problems maybe without spending any extra molla. sounds like the car was an rs3 (rs3 is a blizzard pearl aka white...lol).

Unless your prepared to spend some money on it. You don't know who tuned it.

They said it was tuned, but when I was talking to a performance shop a few minutes ago, they said that it sounded like a bad tune.

I should probably do a compression test on my car.

The body kit was a "Ken Style". Guess it was a RS3.

in all likely hood it is but other things can create the same issue..did you notice if it had a check engine light on?

No, they told me that it would come on every so often and the car would spew fuel all over the place.

still tho, even if you could do a tune after do we really now how it was driven while it was under a crappy tune(if that is the case)? Guy could have beat it back to back on a daily.

No disrespect to the Dealer but they have no idea what there talking about. If it stalls like that on one pull then like crush said it could be a improper connection or mostly a bad tune. I would be cautious of dealing with them(the dealer) if they say the car is fine and it stalls on the first test drive. Most technicians at dealers won't touch a modified vehicle espcially a non-factory aftermarket turboed car too much liability. Turbocharging an NA cars takes patience so don't rush it take your time. It took me a year but it was worth it.
