Thinking of getting a set of cams and throwing them in my stock motor and seeing if i can get over 400whp out of it.

anyone know if it would be cheaper to send our stock cams somewhere to get reground? I was thinking about getting cams, i haven't seen much info about cams and the s/c, rippmods has some good results on their dyno sheets though.

Car Candy can get them for ya.

BC stage 2 na's dont need springs and retainers.

Everyone needs to remember we use a bucket cam system. There are specs for the clearence between the cam and buckets that need to be followed. 90% of the time you will need different sized buckets.......and they arent CHEAP.....one bucket is 15 bucks and you'll be changing 90% of them more then likely,,,,something to consider.

It'd only be cheaper if they did a crappy job, most do and that's why regrinds often suck compared to those ground from new billets. To do a regrind the right way, they have to weld on a lot of new material, such that when they regrind, there's enough metal for the correct profile. If they only add metal to increase lift and don't address the way it ramps up too, you wind up with a less than optimal cam. As a general rule, buying a cam made from a new billet isn't a guarentee of getting a good one, but increases your chances greatly compared to a regrind. If you go with a very reputable company, then it doesn't really matter whether it's "reground" or new, and the cost is often similar too. HTH.

Put on hold for slicks...

what are these buckets you speak of?

Could this be why over time i get a faint lifter tick?

dealer said it was normal as the motor wore in..

Normally Hydraulic lifters do that ticking.
when they pressurerize @ higher RPM the sound goes away.
my simple experience with the Hydraulic lifters.

BTW elevation TC. Good Number you got .
Keep it up.
400 Would be reachable i think with the Stock Block and Cams.
but don't know how long the engine would take that Abuse.

There was e Rumor that some guys in Puerto Rico got to 400HP mark on the stock motor.
If i am not mistaken they did it at 18 PSI. of boost.
but car owner parted the car out after some months.

So it's reachable in my opinion.
and well worth the try.

With race gas I'd say its possible.

When I get back home tomorrow I'll take a post a pic of a bucket so you can see what I'm talking about.
