Bracket broke so I replaced it myself and then decided to get a new car next year on top of needing the money from my parts so I've just been taking everything off of it.

What's up Kytc, sorry the dealer didn't include the cap since I didn't install the blower. Why wouldn't the car hold on untill you get a new car??? It's sad how one thing like a s/c can change your intire outlook on a car. I'll never think about TRD the same way again. Some people I know go as far as to make jokes about TRD like other make fun of Ford etc

This has TOTALLY ____ed me off, I am now at a point that I will NEVER purchase another Toyota product from this point forward, Only thing I will get from now on would be an older Supra.

But I am soo fed up with this. You cant even get a part built for the car that will last more than 5 months

GRR.. I am soo angry, lets all hope, for this scion community, that everything goes well, and things get fixed.

I'm just to the point where I'm ready to go a different direction with car choices right now. I'm going to go a completely different direction next year (fj cruiser). I'm not as much into the tuner scene right now though I'd love to get back into it after college with a Supra (my all time dream car). I don't have anything against Toyota, my dad has been working for them for 20+ years and I'll be working for them when I get out of college. My next vehicle will be a Toyota because I love the brand; TRD though has lost all credibility with me as well as many others sadly enough.

I don't hate the tc, I still love the car. I'm just ready to go another direction. I do hate the problems everyone is having with the blower though. Hey highlander did the same dealer install this current blower as the first blower?

Yes, it was the same dealer, I really do not think it was installation error. I really think that due to the broken mount it puts stress on the shaft causing the bearings to go out.

I do not hate the tC either, BUT I am getting fed up with the companies and how they go about fixing the issues. I understand that I am only one person, but I will be sure to let them know that this 5,000 dollar issue is going to make them lose the sales of 3 or more cars in their future. That is the only power we have as customers anymore. Moving on to the competition.

^^^yo just to give you the heads up...I was on the phone with my rep on Sunday and started hounding him on this supercharger thing for you guys and his response to me was that he had been in contact with the guys over at TRD at it seems that majority of these problems occuring are due to faulty install by dealers. DO NOT LET THEM VOID THE WARRANTY...FIGHT IT TO THE END!!!!!!!

What the hell! So you need a micro scope and a lazer level to install the supercharger correctly? If TRD is trying to push the blame on the dealers for 'bad installs' ,customers are going to get the short end of the stick on this one. Give it another year, TRD SC will be on e-bay real cheap...

in all fairness though, i would expect that to be the answer from trd...just point a finger somewhere other than at their own team.

if the issue is install, then do they have the same rate of failure from dealers on say..tacoma s/c installs?

or is the problem weak bearings on 05's...and not capable of handling the additional stress, poor bracket design for all that torquey engine movement, low tolerance for install spec, poor install manual, and lack of install skill/experience for the mechanics typically doing oil changes? my guess is it would be a combination of all of the above, plus a few other things we are not privy to.

I would have been on my third also. TRD said the same thing to me today after I spoke to a rep about the two units I've burned up. He started by saying the same as posted previously that they're due to bad installs and that there's no design flaws with the unit. After rambling on about the kit he then stoped and said engineering specs wouldn't be useful to me, he really didn't have anything else to add after I informed him I'm a mechanical eng it was ok to let me know the details. It would be interesting to sit down and be a part of the design team and try to get a hold of the problems at hand.

But I think I've said enough about this in the past few weeks so I'm going to try my best to limit my replies to future s/c problems. I getting sick of this and I sure you guys are as well. Best of luck to all you guys who haven't had any issues with your blowers.

Well I guess someone was praying for me. After a long process the tech at my dealership fought hard and my S/C will be warrantied, they now have to run a compression check to see if any metal flakes caused damage, if so it is looking like a new motor is in store.

maybe all the hell you had had to endure gave you some karma points or whatever you wanna call it and you end up with a new motor too?? meh we can wish huh?

but it seems you've won at least this hurdle.

and hey have you seen Garage's new post where he took apart the supercharger and has part numbers for all kinds of goodies in the device.
