typical of a liquidation scenario. And they go third party to liquidate. They jack up the prices before reducing them. People see the word "sale" like it means something, without comparing prices.

completely different scenario though. anyway, reminds me of "dont mess with the zohan"..they had an electronics shop called "Going Out of Business" to attract customers

And they're pulling in more people into the stores than they have the past couple years. "Get it before it's gone". The wonders of an ignorant populace. There are still a lot of people that believe that a higher price means quality ($30-40k Hyundai.. J/K).

I agree that no one on the SL and other Scion forums would pay a higher price for the supercharger, but we're more educated on the subject than the general populace.

Err vortech does make the supercharger and are responsible for the ____ty parts in it, TRD just slapped their name on it!

Good riddance! s/c = fail. I'm hoping mine will last with the custom shaft and better bearings, but nothing is a guarantee, wish i would have never bought it.

P.S. Over the weekend i will grind off the trd plate off my supercharger and stab it, shoot it, burn it, blow it up

Sounds constructive. Way to channel your anger!

EWWW I always thought TRD helped with their parts... SCREW VORTECH PERIOD. I hate how max boost isn't hit till redline anyways! PIECE OF ____!!! Sorry. But when I lost to a v6 eclipse when im boosted that hurt my feelings. Now going rebuilt motor+turbo. Hoping to push at LEAST 360. Stupid SC'ers!

wow...three pages arguing about which way the pricing of the remaining supercharger kits are going to go...i'm kinda surprised people haven't considered the opening this might create for say, an aftermarket supercharger kit that is not TRD...i mean, hell vortech might try to sell it themselves now, or some other company might take a stab at it now, but if you guys just want to speculate on the pricing of the remaining superchargers, go ahead.

but the biggest reason why there was no other supercharger than the trd kit was because it wasn't worth competing with a kit that was covered by a powertrain warranty.

that is simply the inherent property of a centrifugal supercharger, 1k-3k rpms is normal, and then 4k-6k has a surge of power. helps balance performance and fuel economy.

also, even the latest v6 eclipse only as 263 bhp, which would be alittle less than 230 whp, and they are pretty heavy with that big v6 engine made of iron, and heavy body.

considering we're in a recession, aftermarket companies have gone bankrupt or are near bankruptcy, car enthusiast magazines have gone bust...car sales are at an all time low, dealers going out of business, already an abundance of other turbo alternatives on the market, and the fact that a kit would only fit a small niche (2 year model span on the car)

um ok...if you want to speculate on another s/c entering the market, go ahead.

Well the big point is that the economy does suck, the other thing is that there are a lot of Scions out there and Toyotas out there that run the 2.4L. I can't say a company right now would buy the rights to the supercharger or build a new one. But look at the old civics you can still buy performance parts for them. Wait for the economy to go back up and the new tC to come out to devalue our cars and I would think that someone would cater to that group of tC owners. But I am talking years. So pretty much, I am not holding my breath on a new SC because I expect if it is made it will be after I have sold my car.
