1.) Manual Transmission
2.) Turbo Kit
3.) Clutch kit

Seriously, I'm sure this has been talked about before. I'm almost 100% positive. But you'll need the kit, and a tranny upgrade. You might be able to get away without the tranny upgrade for a while, but you'll probably notice it slip in first and second gears if you put more than probably 250 whp.

Read the FAQ thread about Turbo'ing your A/T.

If you are asking for what you need, you probably know next to nothing about Forced Induction. Read up on some things.

Your friend's either badly informed, or an idiot. Getting an exhaust, intake, and header would be a substantial waste of money if you're going to turbocharge. Depending on which kit you go with, something get's thrown in the trash:

With a standard kit, like Dezod, ZPI, GReddy, TurboToyotas, Treadstone, or Sound Performance, the intake and header need to be thrown out, since you get an intake and an exhaust manifold with the kit.

If you decide to wait for Stripper's turbo kit, the exhaust and intake will be thrown out, since it's a rear mounted turbo setup.

Either way, it's about $500-$700 wasted.

As for the tranny upgrade, this is the first one which comes to mind:

Other companies may have something similar, but I don't know off hand.

It...depends. If you get a regular "under-hood" turbo kit, an exhaust is always a good idea. If you get a rear-mounted turbo, then a header is always a good idea. It just depends on what needs to be replaced. :D
