Default Turbo Problem

Alright, this has been going on for about 2 months now.
Mods are ZPI Stage 0, 1 step colder spark plugs, HKS SSQV, and full exhaust.

Here's the problem. When I run in full boost (6 PSI) I start to get a good amount of white/blue smoke. It's not pure blue, its only a very light tint of blue. At first I thought it was my oil return line so I had it replaced for a stainless one. Still have the problem. The previous owner had no problems like this as all. There's no smoke when I run it below 5 PSI. I have to run it in 5-6 PSI for atleast 10 seconds for it to show up. There's no oil in the charge pipes, my coolant and oil levels are fine, no smoke coming from the turbo, no smoke at idle, no exhaust leaks, no oil leaks, no abnormal oil coming from the breather, the turbo was cleaned and rebuilt before it was installed by turbochargers.com and there was no shaft play. This only started happening recently. The only problem I can think of right now is TUNE. My biggest fail yet. I don't have an AFR gauge yet, but judging by the exhaust smoke I'm not running rich. My idles have been fine, no compressor surge at all. I do stall after the BOV goes off and i come to a stop, but many 07's have that problem and I might be getting a new BOV soon.

Any suggestions?

Even though I don't own a turbo, I'm gonna say the Tuning. You should know by reading the numerous threads that tuning is a must... But I know this doesn't help you. GL...

if it was a head gasket, wouldnt there be smoke coming out no matter what PSI or RPM?

Very good advice. A compression tester is a must have for a turbo owner.

If you have lower than normal compression (which I'm not sure what it is on our 2AZ but I'm guessing around 220psi per cyl) but all the numbers are the same, it could very well be your headgasket. If you have a drastically lower number on one of your cylinders then the ringlands could be broken or have worn rings.

Is there a distinct smell to the smoke? Can you smell coolant?

also the "stalling" could be from a vaccum leak, check the hose...and get that thing tuned

Depends on the severity of it.

Theres no abnormal smells at all.

and i believe the compression should be around 180 - 190, so ill do that.

first
you need a afr gauge, you should have gotten that in the first place

that would tell you if you are running rich, if you were running rich that would explain the smoke.

i had smoke when i was running rich, it's probably because when you upped the boost hte tune wasn't meant for that high of a boost so it goes rich and produces smoke...the tint of blue is probably your imagination, if it was tinted blue it would be coolant/water and would be leaking from the begining at idle

yup, it's not that hard...just buy the seals take it apart and you'll see the seals

but if it was hte seals you'd be making smoke at idle if i recall correctly

Just do the compression test first.

See what that tells you.

Then buy a wideband AF gauge - and see what your mixture is during WOT at 6psi. And compare that with whatever psi you were running to not produce the smoke.
