Default Turbo question, custom "stage 0"

Hey everyone, i've been a member on here since 2006 and have been reading, learning and observing all that i can about turbos. I've been planning on going turbo for a while now, but don't believe on boosting on a budget, so i've saved money.

My question is as follows, and i'd appreciate it if people like rhythmnsmoke would chime in, is the following a good custom set up:

Dezod Piping kit
dezod manifold gasket
dezod stud extentions
54 trim t3/t4 turbo
ATP manifold
ATP 3" downpipe
tial wastegate
HKS BOV
vacuum block
gauges
misc. couplers, fittings and screws

PLEASE let me know your input on this setup. While i'm NOT "boosting on a budget," i'm designing a kit that has buildable potential. I would like to know if this setup can be run without management for the time being. I'm more interested in the engine management that can control the factory ECU that may be coming out in the near future. But i figure while i wait i can run 6 lbs like the ZPI kit WITH and intercooler. Thoughts???

FYI, all of the aforementioned items total right a $2,000.00

Let em know your thoughts!! No negativity please, i don't have the time or patience for that.... THanx!

Use engine managment from the start, trust me. I tried it and it didnt turn out so good. Other than that it sounds good. Just get a brand name turbo, no ebay shiz.

Fuel management should be the first thing on the list, so go ahead and add another $1,000 to that total.

like the other guys have said, if your going to go cheap, the last part you want to go cheap on is your management, it will cost you more in the end

Just pick up a used kit, I saw a used greddy kit and a few others for around 1800 on here and ebay, just search

from my experience when using larger injectors with no fuel management sucks *****.....on light to medium acceleration you go hella lean, then when you go wot you go insanely rich. at least thats with 550cc injectors, if you go smaller say 440's or something of that nature the wot acceleration wont be as bad but you still have the partial boost leaning out on ya. its just a sticky situation to put yourself in, might as well wait on boost until you get the management that you desire.

Def get fuel right from the beggining - i ran like 4 psi untuned and although it didnt do any damage it was really inconsistent afr wise and it didnt feel strong at all - went to 6 psi with 440's and the fic and with a street tune afrs were perfect was ale to retard timing and it ran just awesome. If you can wire the fic yourself you can pick one up for $300 ish and you can find used injectors on here usually for $200-250

I'm going to go ahead and chime in on this and agree with everyone else, BUT from a different perspective.

Lot of the time people ask me if it's ok to have X,Y,Z to duplicate the Stage 0 setup. Here is the thing, you are changing to a larger diameter turbo, larger diameter exhaust/downpipe combination and adding an intercooler. This setup will be to unpredictable at best. My guess is it will be super lean at times, and you don't want that for sure. The Stage 0 Ran without management and did it well, because it was tested that way.

You can't take an apple, bake it in an oven into apple pie, and ask will it taste like a normal apple still.....no what I mean.

Let me add...

You will also need Fuel / Ignition management, Injectors, spark plugs, and probobly a clutch sooner or later. Dont bother running a turbo setup with out fuel managment. Also account for getting a dyno tune. Without these things you are putting your engine at risk! Do it right the first time or dont do it at all

Also - make sure the dezod IC piping will match up with your manifold and downpipe setup, they may set the turbo in a different position than the IC pipes were designed for.
