Default Turboing suggestions???

I am looking to buy a turbo kit, want some thing reliable, and not too horriable price. My local shop quoted me between 3500-4000 for the greddy kit installed and tuned. That would be with the emanage ultimate. I originally was looking to go with a ZPI kit...But looks like that is no longer a option.

I am looking to be around 275-300hp with stock internals, on around 10psi. I want it to be safe for streetable use. Will I need to get a 3" turbo back to acheive this? Is this possible with a good tune?

Also I am sure I will have to upgrade the clutch, but what about the fuel pump, will the stock support it?

Thanks for all the help in advance

Wow, if that's $4,000 for the price of the kit, install labor and tune that's a hell of a deal. get the clutch upgraded and injectors if the Greddy kit doesn't come with them and you should be good.

good deal imho...im not a fan of the greddy kit but thats JUST PERSONAL PREFERENCE...it can and will make power for sure and a 3" would help i think...its not a must have but nice to have deal...dont forget to get a boost controller if you want to go to 10psi...the wastgate spring i think with that kit is an 8.7psi...

anyways its do-able with that kit to get 300hp i think....tune will dictate the power and safety as well as correct install...

good luck in your quest for boost

Sounds like a good deal if the installer is any good and also any good in tuning. I second the advice on upgrading the clutch.

Get a custom exhaust while you're at it too. A 2.5" or 3" exhaust will free up another 20+whp.

The internal wastegate on the greddy is just under 6 psi. To support the psi level you want are going to need to upgrade the injectors from the 440s that come with the kit and might be a good idea to upgrade the couplers as well.

You could just get the turbo kit (without the emanage and injectors upgrade) and buy bigger injectors and the management seperately, though.

But that price does seem pretty low installed with tune, might want to make sure that includes 'everything' before you make a decision.

Yeah, I only know cause i have the kit, lol. But, I think the greddy kit is good, but only if you get it for the right price. There are some downsides to the kit when comparing to others: smaller injectors, smaller intercooler piping (2in on hot side 2.3 on cold side), poor couplers. I've already upgraded my couplers and will be retuning soon to 8psi with 550s and a ptuning turbo back exhaust. I'm hoping for 250ish (on ptunings dyno which we all know provides conservative figures when comparing to other dynos).

found one. The greddy is kit but it really limits you in the long run. it is nice because the manifold is an equal length design but at the same time it sucks because it is an internal wastegated configuration. The turbo on the other side is nice because it is not too small were it will have no top end but it is not too large were you are going to have to wait for it to spool. Couplers I guess are known to be weak sauce so thats another negative. 440's are still kinda small for your power goals and would really be pushing them. You get what you pay for man. so if you saved up and purchased a different set up and install it your self. todd makes good kits and is doing better now. Ptuning would be another good one to look at and also maybe dezods alpha set up when they come out with theirs. there are a lot of people that make kits for the tc you just got to research it more and choose a set up on what you feel is right for you.

Dezod S1 + Proper fuel management, professionally tuned, new clutch/flywheel, motor mounts.

Without the proper supporting mods, you will fail. Plan for everything to be done at once.

Go with Dezod. Great customer service and the best bang-for-your-buck turbo setup available for the Scion.

get the ultimate if your are going for greddy.. but the kit itself will be good for 300 hp.. even the small IC pipes will still get you to your goal.. but yeah before you jump into it make sure it has everything you will ever need

Cherry kit Rob; Looks like it would be overkill if he's just trying to get to 300 hp. How are you supporting the intercooler on the display block? I have one for shows until the motor is finished and need to prop the cooler up from underneath.
