Default Turbonetics T-Fitting

The 1/8" npt tap (used to re-thread the oil sending unit port) that is supposed to come with the kit is missing, and frankly, I'd rather not re-tap any part of the head... Does anyone know the size of the fitting that would screw in flushly with the head? It'd be the same size as the oil sending unit itself, but I know it's not SAE, and TRD won't sell me the t-fitting that they supply with the S/C, so I'm out of luck until I can get my hands on a t-fitting that will fit the existing hole that the oil sending unit currently connects to.

Here you go buddy. yeah turbonetics was missing some parts. you dont need the rethread 1/8 NPT. turbonetics supplied this t-fitting brass with the kit, just look for it, it came with the kit. it looks like that on the pic.

I have the brass t-fitting... what is that silver looking piece that is attached to the t-fitting? is that an adapter that goes from the brass fitting to the actual hole on the head

*Edit*
I have a silver adapter labeled 1/8 -28 bsp male to 1/8 - 27 P/N 31088 (which is not listed in the parts list included with the manual). I'm guessing this might be the adapter I need. However, when I try to thread the adapter onto the brass t-fitting it stops threading only after a couple turns. Definitely not threaded properly. I haven't tried screwing the male end into the head yet, but if the other end wont fit properly with the t-fitting it doesnt really matter if the other end fits...

Oops i fotgot about the adapter also...yeah i think the silver adapter will only fit on the head(thats why u dont need the 1/8 NPT rethread anymore), and the t-fitting brass will go next to the silver adapter, then the sensor. youre good to go. just make sure you put thread sealant tape.

I guess turbonetics didnt update their l inventory list. I told them about it too. eh, no biggy

you shouldnt need to retap anything , the 1/8 -28 bsp is the side that screws into the head . it stands for "british standard pipe threads" and 28 is the threads per inch . on pipe threads its not going to screw all the way down , the threads are tapered . a little over half way is all it should go .

nah, mine doesnt even make it halfway there. it only makes about 1 complete turn before it stops being able to move. maybe i just need another adapter or something. ill try a local hardware store to see if they carry any. thanks very much for the explanation of the measurements. i wasn't sure what the bsp stood for.

There are two types of British pipe thread - straight and tapered. Make sure you get the tapered kind. I believe that I bought one once from Autozone in a pack of adapters for aftermarket gauges.

OK the thread pitch in the block is 1/8" BSPT. The Tee oil fitting is 1/8" NPT. The silver piece you got is a 1/8" BSPT to 1/8" NPT adaptor. What this does is allow you to connect the tee to the block WITHOUT having to retap the threads. Just assemble the tee fitting and silver fitting as shown in the pic and screw the silver end into the stock oil feed fitting.

I understand what to do, but what I'm saying is that the silver 1/8"bsp will not thread properly onto the 1/8" NPT oil fitting. The silver piece goes into the head fine, but the brass oil fitting will not thread into the silver bsp adapter. it goes on approximately 1 complete turn. It's about maybe 1/3 of the way on when I can't tighten it any more. It really seems that it should thread on quite a bit more, almost as if it could fall off. Maybe there was something wrong with the threads on either piece. Can I go to a local hardware store to get these adapters?

OK I know exactly what you are talking about. The last kit I installed (a Spec V kit) used the exact same setup and at first that was my first thought as well. However if you spread some Teflon thread sealant on there and put the tee in a vice then grab a long open end wrench you can get it to tighten all the way. Trust me. I had the same thought at first that it was the wrong pitch but its not. The fitting is tight but if you apply the proper force it will tighten all the way down so there is none of the brass side showing anymore.

Alright thanks for the heads up! If it winds up crossthreading though, I'll know who to blame... haha j/k! I'll try it out tomorrow and let you know how it goes.

It won't...lol but if it does just remember EVERYTHING is covered under the warranty. If it doesn't thread right just call REggie at Turbonetics and he will overnight you replacement parts.... :D

This is exactly what I love about turbonetics. I can't wait for this weekend to start the install. Thanks for all the assistance. I'll give everyone an update hopefully on saturday.
