Default Turbonetics...unichip...

I came across the Turbonetics turbo kit an a website and according to them with eh unichip no tuning is needed???? Is this true or is it one of those "overly safe tunes" that give you crappy performnace??

If you're looking for serious power, Turbonetics Turbo Systems are for you! They include everything you need from fuel and ignition to piping and fittings for complete bolt-on turbo performance. All Turbonetics turbo systems are true O.E. bolt-on turbo kits that does not require "hacking" in order to install. Pieces mount to existing factory positions and maintain all optional equipment including air conditioning! With these kits you no longer have to worry about 4 - 6 weeks of downtime to get a kit fabricated because all kits can be installed within 8 - 12 hours. In addition, you don't have to worry about inexperienced tuners experimenting with your car while tuning. Because our fuel and ignition management systems come pre-programmed to maintain a consistent air/fuel ratio and timing control under all conditions.Kits Include:

* Ceramic Ball Bearing T3/T4 Hybrid Turbocharger
* Spearco Intercooler System
* Powder-Coated Intercooler Piping
* Silicone Hose / T-Bolt Clamps
* Exhaust Manifold - high carbon cast-steel with ceramic coating
* Fuel / Timing Controller (electronic fuel / timing management system)
* Fuel Injectors
* "Evolution" Wastegate Assembly
* "Raptor" By Pass / Blow Off Valve Assembly
* Mandrel-bent ceramic coated Downpipe with closed-loop wastegate discharge
* Intake System with Air Filter
* All necessary Hardware, Hoses, and Fittings
* Stock HP: 160hp
* Kit HP Producing 300 HP @ 8 PSI (94 OCTANE) & 262 ft./lbs. of torque

this is true, actually Turbonetics has the best out of the box tune i've seen myself. Senn 2 Tubonetics tC's on the dyno and both were 12.0-12.5 afr across, right on the edge but safe.

yeah, the turbonetics kit is ready to go out of the box, but it will really only make like 240 whp.

but with unichip you can only get it tuned with unichip dealer and tuners. also, the problem with the turbonetics kit is that it is kind of a dead end. you can't take it to the next level like you can with other kits.

Warning: If Turbonetics is still shipping the non-water cooled Turbo then understand that they tend to fail between 8 and 12 months. Ask for the new water cooled turbo.
