On SL is where his TRUE self emerges!!!

So, Twin, is that indeed the TRD supercharger on there? What about pulley size?

This is just a tidbit of information for those that might want to read up on the concept of Twin Charge. Some don't believe it's a viable option but Volkswagen is actually releasing a production Twin Charge Golf GT available in Australia.

Here's a link....enjoy it everyone.

You retard chris! This is the car that you and I have seen over at Dynamic autosports for like the past 4 months. This car puts down about 400whp. Ive seen it drive and run on a dyno in person. Its awesome.

I dont know who started this thread but I do know that Dynamic Autosports in Lake forest sponsered this car and did pretty much all the work.

This thread was started by us, Auto-Tech Interiors (aka ATI). It's our project car that we've envisioned since our BMW Twin Charge project in 2003 and it was meant to exhibit our gauge solutions...similar to the Mini.

With this vision, we were able to partner with the likes of Scion, TRD, Dynamic Autosports, Fireballed Racing, HKS, Recaro, TEIN, STRI Electronics, and many others. There were lots of folks interested in helping build this with us, but because of our relationship with Dynamic Autosports (they're one of our distributors), we felt it would be a great partnership. (You'll see more about our ATI gauges and mounting solutions in threads to come...the TC has out triple meter EZ pod in it as well as our STRI gauges!!!)

You'll read more when the feature comes out in Modified Magazine.

Thanks for you props! Yes...the car is running pretty hard now. We're in the midst of putting in the new clutch and then we'll re-dyno the car before it goes to Scion for a show-n-tell session.

We'll keep you posted!

Well, TRUE twin charging (using identical chargers on a V engine or inline to make more power) has been around forever. Sequential charging (which is what you are doing) has also been around forever. So I dont think anyone questions the viability. It is just the functionality we question when the main point to be addressed (lag) by sequentially charging the car isnt really being addressed much using a SC design that has a power curve similar to the turbo. Granted. If you used a really big turbo that lagged really bad, the cent. SC may help out a bit since it still may start producing earlier. But in that case, you would probably be better using a small, quick spooling turbo up front and a big, later spooling turbo second IMO. But considering the quick spooling, higher output setups people already have, the centrifugal charger just seems out of place in the equation. And as we stated, a roots style charger (the better candidate) would require some thinking to get under our hood.

But, we are not taking away from your work, we just feel that the concept is lost due to the types of chargers used. But the dyno sheets will tell the real answer.

Thanks for your reply. You definitely seem to understand your work and we appreciate it. Yes...it would be nice to have a roots type charger like we had in the TWINI but this is what TRD offered and we decided to go with it ... I guess you can say partly for the challenge, which is what we all want isn't it? Too easy = Too easy. And the TRD sc worked great! We have a dyno chart comparison of Stock vs. HKS bolt on vs. TRD Supercharger vs. Twin Charge. You'll get to see all of it soon!!

Thanks again though for your comments.

i think he ment stock engine, then adding just bolt ons (HKS Exhaust and such), then adding the SC, and then the twin.

I gotta say, I'm glad I went with the ATI gauge pod. These guys just seem really cool.

I don't think HKS does. At this point I'm sure a lot of things are custom, so they're probably just using an HKS snail, not one of their kits.

Hi everyone,

Thanks for all the messages!
Yes...we are a pretty cool group if I don't mind saying so myself !

As for the project, let me answer a few questions.

The project started as a stock car of course.
We then added a prototype HKS CAI and the HKS cat back exhaust.
After that, we installed the TRD supercharger...standard kit.
After dyno'ing at each stage, we built the TwinCharge system with an HKS GT40 turbo and custom downpipe and voila...the TwinCharge is born!!

Nothing else was done as far as motor work. The only other mods include customer HKS exhaust, suspension, wheels, brakes, custom seats, and of course the ATI ez-Pod with some amazing STRI gauges !! Check it out... http://www.striracing.com

If anyone is interested, we'll run a promotion package for the ez-Pod and 3 gauges. Let me know if you guys are interested and what gauges you might want.

Thanks everyone.
