Default URGENT!!! FRAUD!!! PLEASE READ!!! Turbonetics Kit on Ebay

POTENTIAL FRAUD ALERT! Please read for yourself and then decide!

Ebay Item 220011216501
http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eB...RK%3AMEWA%3AIT

I was looking to buy this used kit from this guy, and I had a lot of odd experiences. I don't know. It could be fraud, or it could be somebody acting really odd. Just wanted to throw this out there, in case somebody else out there was going throuh the same time.

The seller, Tony, had his number listed with the auction. Gave him a call. He said that he would sell it to me for $850. He wanted me to send him the money through Western Union. At Publix getting ready to send the money, when I honestly sat down and thought about it, and decided not to. Figured it wouldn't be worth the risk. Here are some sketchy things that happened with everything.

- Western Union: I have always been told by everybody not to send money that way. Great risk of getting ripped off. He wanted me to send it to someone I know, and then when I get the parts, to callup and have it transferred over to his name. He told me not to put a security question on the Western Union form.

- Other forms of payment: He told me that I couldn't pay him through PayPal, because currently his PayPal account was having problems. Right now he said that it was only allowing him to receive up to $500. I offered to send him a post-dated Cashier's Check, that way I can receive everything, and then let thhe check release to him. In case I didn't receive anything, I could just cancel the check. He said that he would have to wait for the check to clear before he could send me the merchandise.

- Sender unsure about transaction details: Tony seemed like a nice guy, but he wasn't always sure about the transaction details when I talked to him. It seemed like he had multiple deals going, so he didn't know what was going on with my deal. He asked me several times where I was located and what price we agreed upon.

- Price of Agreement: He said that he would sell it to me for $850, and then $50 for shipping. We agreed upon this while the listed price on Ebay was at $810, with two days left. Right now it is at $880, plus $51 for shipping. Why would he sell it to me for less than he knows that he can get out of it?

- Price Advertised: Right now on the turbo kit listing he has advertised that he was looking to get $975 out of it. What worries me about this price is that it is just under $1000. When you send money through Western Union, if it is under $1000 there are less security checks.

- Ebay Reputation: This guy has none. That is always cause for alarm.

In the end, this all could be a bunch of coincidences, but personally it is just not worth it to me to get ripped off like this. Hopefully somebody else will let me know they are going through the same thing, and it will be obvious that it is all a ripoff.

What would you guys do in my shoes? Would you do the same thing? Do you think this guy is ripping people off, or just a little bit different?

I wouldn't take the chance. But if you can get everything in writing and make sure you keep the copies of the money order, you would be better off!!! I would also make sure he gives you tracking number. If you never get it you can sue him and then get your money back. Would suck though because of all the hastle you would have to go through. good luck!

No, trust me. I'm not going to do it. After reading the other thread about this guy. Since he didn't actually, can I still do anything? Should I contact ebay or something?

Wow, that other thread just makes you want to stomp a hole in that guy!

I love his excuse for his paypal only being able to handle $500. That is simply because he hasnt verified his bank account.. how convenient.

Called up Ebay, and they told me to submit it all in writing. They said that it was a violation to require payment through Western Union, and that it was a violation to post your phone number. Those were the two obvious blatant violations. I also e-mailed them the following:

I was looking to buy this Turbochharger kit from this user, and I had a lot of concerns.

The seller, Tony, has his number listed with the auction. Gave him a call. He said that he would sell it to me for $850. He wanted me to send him the money through Western Union. At Publix getting ready to send the money, when I honestly sat down and thought about it, and decided not to. Figured it wouldn't be worth the risk. I posted my concerns on an online forum, and another item number came up where it looks like this guy was doing the same thing. The other item number is 8070859661. Hopefully that will assist you. Apparently all of these fraudulent listings are coming out of the Miami, FL area.

Here is the link to the forum that I posted with my difficulties:

Here is the link to the forum from where the other guy was having problems with the old listing:

If you can, please let me know what happens. Thank you!

I wonder if I should be worried or not. I'm in Orlando, and he is in Miami. I'm sure he woulnd't have a problem driving 3 hours to do something. I gave him my address so he can ship it, so he has my address and knows where to find me.

I just got a text from him that said "Bro ur full of s**t i took a day off work for a lie"

Now tell me this. Why would he be so mad that I didn't buy it, when it is listed right now for more on Ebay?

if the deal sounds too good to be true, it most likely is......i read somewhere there are over 500,000 or more cases of fraud reported each day on ebay, and the majority are never procesuted.

same guy.. hes pretty good... does miami heat tickets, honda engines, various car parts.. etc... hes got some skill in convincing you to western union . and he tells stories about his personal life when you call him so you have reason to think hes legit.. well.. there are 2 guys in florida who got ripped off by undoubtedly the same guy.. they have his picture.. walking in to 2 different money transfer places where he picked up the 2 transfers.. when one of the people in florida went to the police station ( he is about 20 years old, african american male) they tell him.. we can only take a report...

they have his picture, and the type of car he drives... not to mention auctions currently on ebay. i dont know why nothing is being done about this guy... ive spent time to look around on ebay, he pumps up his own ratings with multiple usernames, that way if noone even calls on one of the items, he can just bid himself and he wont have to ship.. because i dont think he actually has any parts at all. just pictures... if this guy is caught i hope they humiliate his ___ right after i get my hard earned money back.. i would actually pay to see him in pain. trip out on that.....
