Ok car drove great all weekend then suddenly on my way home started doing this. Won't hold boost (blows off) as soo as I hit like one or two psi like I let of the throttle, its not like its leaking, just as soon as I hit boost the BOV goes off. it also wont idle goes real low like its about to die and normally does, will sometimes bring itself back to life. If I try to keep it alive the throttle stumbles and acts like im not pressing in the pedal then suddenly the car will take off like I floored it.

I have no idea whats wrong with it, Im thinking maybe bad plugs as I have been idleing alittle lean and getting misfire codes. Ill pull them tomorrow. Any other ideas?

MAF I can understand, but why would the BOV cause the idleing issues?

 

because air leaks in and never gets read by the maf, = lean, = rough idle.

 

yeah but its not acting like a vac leak, its more like a fuel issue, my vac is ready a steady 22

 

I agree with Brett. It is either a vac leak, BOV malfunction, or possibly a front o2 sensor failure but that seems unlikely based on what you said. I personally would check the BOV first. Is the BOV vented to atmosphere or is it recirculated??

 

its vented, i cant feel any leaks in the BOV at all.

it's more than likley the MAF this is how my friends tc ran when his maf went out. will you sometimes dump lots of smoke too? thats common do to the computer over calculating the fuel to paly catch up.

 

well it wont even stay on, now its acting like a vac leak but the boosting issue has me stummped that and I cant find a vac leak, so Im gonna just go over it tomorrow and hope its something simple or plugs

 

boost leak test may reveal a vac leak. make sure the maf is seated and the o-ring isnt dislodged. good luck

 

ugh is it just me and the other guy who thinks its the freaking maf? heres a good trick.....unplugg the maf sensor then go start the car if it stays on and drives then it was the maf

yeah the back screw had come loose and the MAF wasnt seated. getting some new screws for it and hope this fixes it

ok reseated the MAF and got new bolts and a new o-ring and nothing doing the same stuff

 

boy u have to reset the ecu after things like that...uplugged the battery for 30 seconds

 

it was unplugged for the three hours the maf was unplugged lol

 

then try a boost leak test...youll be amazed at what youll find!!! even if thats not the issue its better to know the system is solid.
