After 6 months of problem free boost, I found it very hard to understand why so many people were having so many problems.

Damn... you guys are really making it last. You mind if I ask what type of turbo you have? By the pics in your profile, is it a Dezod?

lol, don't make it sound like you've been problem free. You've had more problems then everyone else here combined.

Definitely. I've read up as much as possible, and most of the advice guides people to buy kits. I'm about to place an order with DESCENDANT, since there kits are more marketed to the daily driver. As for the tune, I thought that wasn't necessary, since the kits came with a PNP fuel map - or have I made an extremely incorrect assumption?

they say that its a pnp but no 2 cars are ever the same any good tuner will tell you this, so what works for one ca rwont for another, what does this say for descendant? they are selling a kit with a basemap

honestly if your planning on buying a kit thats reliable and around that price buy a ptuning kit its hella reliable and daily driven fine, has a great sized hotside that makes it fuel friendly

Ah, thanks for the information. I'll have to find a good tuner, then. Hey... you're from Maryland? Who would you recommend? I'm about 20 minutes from Baltimore .

I saw the Ptuning kits, and I have to admit - they're quite beautiful, but the price is up there! It's over $1k more than Dezod or DESCENDANT . I know the kit is highly recommended by many in the Scion community, but I haven't really found any complaints about DESCENDANT. Plus, their kit includes a lifetime warranty, which is always a bonus .

Dezod is a good starter kit for the price. If you live in Baltimore I would headover to ptuning for a tune.

Descendant and PTuning both offer amazing kits but they are both built for two different purposes. PTuning is hands down the most powerful kit and Descendant is built more for moderate boost and simplicity. I wouldn't mind owning either to be honest. If you are looking for conservative and want to save money, go Descendant but always always always invest in a rock solid tune from a reputable shop like PTuning.

Please don't bash.... but I was reading this thread and it sounds like a lot of peeps on here have different brand F/I setups... what would you all say, by possibly listing Pros/Cons that you've experienced with each of the major brands? Are the higher costs such as with the P-Tuning kit over say some of the others worth it? I mean sometimes the higher pricing comes with either better quality or additional parts/service that others do not. And sometimes certain brand products are simply a little over priced.
I have a mildly performance modified N/A setup. And just havent really researched the F/I setups in the past just because of the major cost investment needed up front for it.

ie... TT, Dezod, P-Tuning, DESCENDANT, etc.

no s***? hmmm hadn't heard about them going under... or maybe I just hadn't paid attention to the "turbo" threads that much. Last big turbo buzz I heard was when Greddy went out...at least if memory serves I believe it was Greddy that did.

well heres what i suggest, buy the descendant kit,(it looks amazing too) then with the 1000 you saved you can spend 500 of that getting tuned at ptuning

and yea the only tuner id send you off to around here is ptuning if you were more southern id say mike (elevationtc)

Ah, I take it PTuning will take care of any turbo setup, without discriminating against non-PTuning turbos? If so, Virginia's my next stop after install .

Yes, I was going for a conservative kit. It seems like PTuning fits the needs of the daily driver/race track tC owners quite well, but I don't really plan on visiting the track, or boosting past 10-11 PSI. I'm trying to find a good balance between power and reliability.

tcturbo07 - Thanks for the advice!

rangerddya - Thank you too for the advice! Thanks for your input regarding the brands, too. Oh... OMFG - you have a beautiful ride! I kind of wish I went with white, now... I'll try to pull something off with my Flint Mica .

Oh I've been here for over 4 years.. lol. Just since I have a modded NA setup and FI was/is pretty pricey no matter how you slice it... just haven't cruised the FI threads that much is all.
